This pregnancy has been a breeze compared to my other two pregnancies (so far), but I'm not getting any sleep and I'm itching all the time!! I have no problems falling asleep, but I can't stay asleep and I toss & turn all night long. We have a great mattress, and I'm not big & uncomfortable yet. What's up with that? What can I do?

And the itching... driving me bonkers. It's my lower back, and the back of my scalp. I also had some on my feet. There's no rashes (although I had a few hives on my back), it just itches like crazy. I had my husband check out my scalp and he said it's not red or flaky or anything. What the heck?

Is this a normal pregnancy symptom?? What can I do?

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

What can I do next?

Itchiness during pregnancy can sometimes indicate a liver issue. If the itching doesn't go away or gets worse, see your doctor. Otherwise, itching during pregnancy is pretty common because of skin changes and increased estrogen. As for the sleeping, ask your doctor if you can take unisom or benadryl. Those are usually safe in pregnancy and can make you drowsy. Good luck.

my skin got pretty dry around that time too.. im almost 31 weeks now and its definatley not like that anymore.. just moisturize.. i also had to take my proactive down to from twice to once a day, it definatley dried my face out more once the pregnancy hormones started kicking in.. the only itching i have now is my belly and my thighs.. but thats due to skin stretching

If it is your palms and soles, please contact your OBGYN. It could be a symptom of a rare but serious complication. I'm not sure if that would also impact any other parts of your body. OK, I revise my advise, check with your OBGYN regardless. Better safe than sorry.
