My Daughter will be 10 in October and we are at a lost as to what kind of party to have. We usually have our parties at places instead of at home -any ideas?

What can I do next?

When my daughter was that age, I hired a few students from the local 'Beauty Academy' (school to learn cosmotology) to come to her party. They did the girls finger and toe nails and hair. For the favors I bought nail polish, nail care supplies and lip gloss. The girls LOVED it.

I completely understand having it at places instead of home--it is soooooo worth the $ to leave that clean-up to someone else!! A few suggestions: Skating rink, bowling alley, picnic at a park (Mountain View park near Tannersville is great) or near a lake. Don't know where you are, but I hear that Poke-a-Nose Pottery is great (but I've never been). PA Dance Network in East Stroudsburg does wonderful themed parties: Hawaiian, butterfly, princess--they teach some dance, help serve, and clean up.
Best of luck!

How about a place where they could get their hair and nails done. My daughter just turned a eleven. I did that at our house last year on our deck. We set up stations to get their nails done and a natural facial (made up of apples oatmeal, etc.) I had a foot massager and a wax machine for their hands. My older daughter and her friend helped. Everybody had a blast. Another cool thing that my older daughter did was made a big game board of deal or no deal. Instead of having money behind the slots, we had prizes like stuffed animals, cute pen, folders, posters, etc. My daughter friend went in another room and would call once in a while like they do in the show. The kids really had fun. Good luck!

My daughter turned 10 last year and I wanted to do something special so we rented a hotel room at a Holiday Inn with a pool and invited a few kids to come and stay the night. We kept it low key and had pizza and snacks and they loved swimming.

A lot of the hair salons do parties, where they style their hair and do some makeup for fun, their are pottery studios that do birthday parties if she is a more into art and their is minature golf, October is still pretty warm, if she is more into sports. Hope this helps. Have a great time.

We've had great times at the zoo, a movie theater, bowling, a beauty school (if it's for all girls and they like nails/hair styled....) The old North Park Clubhouse in Robinson is sort of an "older" version of Chuck E. Cheese w/o all the really little kid games. I also did a scrapbooking party for one daughter where I rented the church activity room w/tables and chairs and had a Creative Memories consultant come with her products and help them make a mini scrap book of their own. Let me know if you want more details on any of these....

Sleep over party with movies, popcorn, make your own hot fudge sundaes, music, pajama dancing. I remember my daughter at that age, she wanted all her parties to be slumber parties. We had Mexican themed party with Cinco de Mayo decorations and Mexican food. We had a Hawaiian Luau decorations and food. We had a Japanese Sushi party decoration and all. The sushi party was when she was a bit older than 10. You might look at Oriental Trading for some ideas for themes and the prices for the decorations are very good there. The have great customer service as well. I have been ordering from them for personal and business needs for several years.
I had one year when I bought straw hats and dollar store flowers, feathers, ribbons and all kinds of things to make fancy hats and then we had a photo shoot and we burned cds for all the kids and parents as favors. It was a blast and the kids had a blast and to this day, the kids are still talking about the fun they had at the party. They were around 9 or 10.
Let me know if I can help you with any more information on these ideas...

If she is a creative type, check your area for paint your own pottery, for a craft store that offers classes (some will do a private class depending on the size), or for a place to hold a jewelry party (buy some beads, seashells and the cord/wire supplies and let them go to town). There are options to make just about anything - even barettes and flip-flops nowadays . . .

Bowling party
Chuck E Cheese
Movie out
Sleep over

Have you asked your daughter what she'd like to do? At age 10 sleep overs are popular. They can watch movies, gossip, and all that.
