No suggestions, but think it is a grand idea! You go girl and have fun! You have 10 months to plan, so don't fret. Good luck and God Bless.
My neice is turning is turning 10 on October 10, 2010 (10-10-10). We want her to have a party to remember! I have suggested her to invite 9 friends so it will be 10 girls, have the party from 10am to 10pm, 10 different minitature cakes (10 different flavors), 10 different activities... Can you all offer any other unique suggestions.
Update: The reason it is from 10am to 10pm is because it is on a Sunday, and I thought it would be good for them to join my neice at church? Just a thought...

wow some cool ideas but 10 am-10 pm with 10 preteen girls is a combo for disaster.. I would switch that to 10pm-10 am...at least there may be some sleep involved... 12 daytime hours with that many girls that age.. watch out!! there will be hurt feelings, whining, complaining, and overwhelming attitudes as well as the 10 yr old birthday girl feeling like a go-between with her friends or taking sides. The other ideas of using 10 items etc is great but I would refrain from a 12 hour birthday daytime party myself. It takes a lot of energy to entertain for 2-3 hours and unless it's a sleepover they will expect you to entertain with ongoing activities.
I have 2 teens and a pre-teen and have had huge birthday parties even all day parties at the park with close friends and family with 40+ people and they could come and go as they pleased but there were a lot of adults there to help and they were in charge of their kids once my 2 hour party entertaining was over.. basically the rest of the time was hanging out talking while the kids played in the playground or various sports activities like any other park day or family reunion type event would be.
Even with all of that said, I wouldn't attempt this 10 girl pre-teen party LOL.. girls are mean at that age when they are together too long. They may not be friends after the party.
I also remember my 10 year old party. I had about 6 friends over and all they wanted to talk about was boys and do nothing I had planned as far as games and sports which I loved so I was very disappointed because I wasn't really interested in boys in a boyfriend type way.. Boys to me were more like brothers because I had 2 brothers and most of our neighbor kids were boys so we always played baseball or other sports and they thought of me as their little sister so being around boys wasn't a big deal to me. Well my friends weren't like that and all they wanted to do was talk about the neighbor boys and how they liked them and to get their attention so they could have a boyfriend. So it was quite the disappointing party for me and really didn't care to have another one after that.
My daughter had 5 girls for a sleepover party on her 9th birthday and she was very disappointed because most of them fueded most of the night and she felt like she was in the middle trying to be the mediator so she wouldn't hurt any of her friends feelings even though they were hurting each other and some of them didn't talk to each other after that party so she had to play with one friend at a time because they couldn't get along with each other as a group anymore. (Talk about cat-fights) No matter how many times I went to talk to them about their hurtful attitudes towards each other it didn't help. Needless to say whenever she wants a sleepover birthday party now she only wants to invite 2 or 3 friends that really get along well together all the time.
Good luck and hope the best for this pre-teen party
S., No defense here but I can help myself to laugh when i read your post. You are serious do you?
I think the day is very special and memorable for your niece. My BD is October 11 and I turn 40 this year. But I think I can celebrate it on October 10 so I can get the 10+10. Sorry a little side track.
i would suggest to have a birthday party as normal (fun activities, candle, cake ,...) but making it incredible fun like put # 10 everywhere or she will wear somthing that mentioned 10=10=10. Each guest will give her 10 wishes or hugs or kisses. Or more to come....
Happy early birthday to 10=10=10 girl.
Totally cute idea, but i agree, 10pm to 10am, girl! I also vote for 10 different flavors of ice cream, but maybe that's just me! ;) Or you could do a breakfast buffet (if you go with the sleepover idea) and have 10 different cereals to choose from or something like that. You could do it with lunch or dinner too, like do a sandwich bar with 10 different toppings or a make your own pizza station, those would work too. It might also be fun to do manicures and pedicures on each of their 10 toes and 10 fingers! There are endless ideas! This is going to be so fun..wish I could come! ;)
im in favor of the overnight party. I can not imagine having a birthday party for that young a child for 12 hours. Unless you have several activites planned throughout the day, movies, lunch, shopping, miniature golf (depending on weather), etc. i like the sleepover idea, they can watch 10 different movies (might be too long), or watch 10 different t.v. shows. i dont know, just some things i thought of. good luck! oh maybe have like a fashion show and they can have 10 different outfits. that came to me right as i was about to post it. have a good day!
I don't really have any suggestions, just wanted to mention how brave you are to have ten girls over for a 12 hour party! You might think about starting the party at 10pm (i know, it's late, but fun!) and going until 10 am, just make it a sleep over party! If they came over late on the ninth, you could do presents at midnight, and breakfast when they got up, then they could all go home!
