Is it normal to have a 10 month old with no teeth? I keep wondering when they are going to start coming in. When did your child's teeth come in?

What can I do next?

Both of my children began cutting teeth at age 1. I found out that my husband and I were both late teethers as babies as well. I hear it's hereditary.....but I am not positive. I do know it's completely normal to cut teeth as late as 13 months.

It is totally normal. Every child is different. My son had his first tooth at 4 months old and my friends little girl just got her first one at 11 months old. Her first child didn't get one until 9 months old...so don't worry...It will happen and then everytime they open their mouth you will find a new one. :-)
They come in fast after the first one breaks through.

My daughter didn't get her first teeth until she was 8 months old. We thought she'd never get them! Now she is almost 15 months and still only has 6 teeth. I'm sure your daughter's teeth will come soon. A bunch may come all at once!

Hi C.,

Don't worry-they will come in when they are ready!! My first daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 16 months old!! My second daughter got her the week after her first birthday. Yes, they do say the later they get their teeth, usually the healthier they are. Also, both of my girls could eat just about anything, they had tough gums, but do be careful with what you feed her, just in case!!

Don't worry. Some kids start teething when they are one or older. Just ask her doctor if you get too worried about it.

She'll be getting them when she gets them. :)

My son didn't get his first teeth until after he was a year old. From what my pediatrician told me (as well as a friend of mine who is a pediatric dentist), you don't really need to worry about it until around 15 months.

But I know how frustrating it can be to just wait and wait and wait for them to come in! I never thought that Teddy's would show. Here's hoping Peyton's will come in soon!

My son didn't start getting teeth until he was close to 11 months old. It was so funny, he was a year old and only had 2 bottom teeth. He is now 4 and has a full set of beautiful teeth so I wouldn't worry too much.

Sweet pea! I totally understand your concerns. I'm an RN and I had the same exact concerns with my kiddos. My son got his first tooth at 13 months and my daughter at 15 months. I talked to our dentist about this - and he assured me that it was fine. Evidently, the later the teeth come in - the stronger they are! My kids both have mouths full of beautiful pearly white chompers. They are 5 and 2 and no sign of cavities. Chill out and enjoy those gums!!

My daughter was almost 1 year before she got any teeth. Once she started, quite a few came at the same time so be prepared for really sore gums.

no worries, she has some in there somewhere. My mom told my pediatrician she thought I needed baby dentures when I was 13 mos w/ no teeth but I have teeth and they are very strong. Both of my kids were late to get teeth too and they are 10 & 7 and have never had a cavity and have very good teeth so rumor has it, the later they come in, the stronger they are.

My second daughter did not get teeth until her first birthday, I was so worried I asked the dentist he said not to unless she was closer to two - then after two go in and see what the deal is.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. They say the longer it takes for the babies to get teeth the healthier they will be..

My son's teeth didn't start coming in until he was almost one. And then it was his top two first not his bottom. His bottom front teeth were the last to come in. I think maybe sometimes if the bottom teeth don't come through at the normal time then all the teeth are delayed coming in because they come in in a certain order. After the top two came in the rest came in pretty quickly.

My son got his first tooth when he was 4 months old, but my friends daughters didn't get their's until they were about 1. Now her oldest daughter is having to get her baby teeth pulled out because her permanent teeth are coming in and the baby teeth aren't even getting loose. Her denist said it was probably because she got her teeth so late.
