He loved his bouncy chair that hung from the tree or garage rafters.
We put a huge floor pillow or brand new dog bed underneath and he'd have so much fun bouncing on that.
Do you have any toy ideas for a 1 year old? Did your child like anything specific? I'm looking for indoor or outdoor toy ideas. Thanks!

anything they can push: strollers, shopping carts, etc. and play kitchens
Our daughter liked her Tiny Tikes slide. It was good for inside or outside.
She also loved these pop up tunnels she received,, she loved crawling in and out.. over and over.. Puzzles, books, and her little grocery cart.
Of course she also loved the huge boxes everything came in also..
My daughter got this ladybug and really enjoys it: http://www.amazon.com/Vtech-Crazy-Legs-Learning-Bugs/dp/B...
She also likes her See N Say
I also sell Discovery Toys and we have many that are fantastic for a one year old. The most popular ones (and ones that my own children LOVE) are Castle Marbleworks and Hammer Away. Check them out at http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/karenchao
fisher price ride on car
My son was given a doll that played a tune and clapped. I was so surprised at how much he loved that toy! All my kids loved balls at that age. The bigger the better!
Not sure how much you are looking to spend? An inexpensive gift would be bubbles, they love bubbles! You can get the battery operated ones too. A little more expensive would be the Playhut tunnels and/or ball pit, these are sooo much fun for them.
I don't remember how old my kids were when they got this, but all 3 of them loved the wooden birthday cake set from Melissa and Doug. We still call it "happy cake" at my house. Have fun with a first birthday!!
Any kind of riding or push toy, the Little Tikes climber/slide, wooden puzzles, board books, bead toys where you push the beads around on the wires, Little Tikes sandbox, Duplos by Lego and the two Discovery Toys mentioned by the previous poster are both great and my kids loved them.
