Okay please don't think that I have lost it. But, we are having an all out PARTY for my baby girls 1st birthday. I know!! I know!! It is more for the adults but o-well. Anyways my theme is like a carnival or a fair, we will have concession stands, moonwalk, so on. Does anyone know where I can rent a helium tank? I think doing my own balloons would save me. Also any ideas of food? Catered or not? Any ideas is greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

M.,
You can rent a helium tank at Arnie's off I-10 and Studemont. You can buy a small one at Party City for around $20. Arnie's has all kinds of party stuff and good prices.
I made a carousel cake for my son's 2nd birthday and it was cute. It's basically a two layer cake with peppermint sticks for the poles and decorated animal crackers for the animals. It just called for a paper roof.
Anyway, hope this helps.

I think it is awesome that you are doing that. We don't have a lot of family or friends here so we are planning something small at the house. But if I could do what you are doing, I would!

I know Big Tex does helium rental, bigtexweldingsupplies.com. Just found that out when looking for CO2 for pools... also have you tried Party City on 1960? I get all my balloons there, just not sure if they rent.

I would think your questions about food really depends on the budget. Grilling hot dogs and burgers is always easy and less costly. A lot of bbq and mexican food places do catering for reasonable price. Sometimes places that you wouldn't have thought will do it.

Good luck- I can't believe our little one will be a year at end of November. Time flies huh!

In keeping with the carnival theme I think you should consider renting a sno-cone machine. For munchies you could prepare small bags of peanuts (in the shell) and popcorn ahead of time. I would stick to hotdogs (or corndogs) and hamburgers for the main course.

Good luck!! Sounds like a great time!

If you have a Party City near you, I think they rent helium tanks or you can buy and exchange them like propane tanks. I think a snow cone machine would be fun, cotton candy machines, popcorn machines, hot dog stands, that would be fun too and fit with your theme. Check with your local party rentals-you would be amazed at what you could find. Margarita/slushies (kid friendly) machines too.

You can rent a helium tank from Arne's. You can also rent them from Party City or any party store, but I always go to Arne's for all my party favors, decor, etc. Also I think it;s great that you are throwing an all out party for your baby. My son turned one this past February adn we threw an all out Construction Themed party at my house. We had 25 little kids there adn spenc over $1000, but I dont' care. It was a great party , sooo cute adn everyone loved it. We plan to throw him a carnival party for his 2nd birthday.

one of the parenting magazines out right now how an entire carnival theme party idea section in it. I'll try to find it again and let you know specifically which one it is. It had a fortune teller booth (fortune cookies) It had a kissing booth (Hershey's kisses) Pie in the face booth and other games you could play and earn "tickets" to get little prizes. It was super cute. It was kind of a Halloween birthday party idea.

can't answer your question but wanted to say that we only get a handful of years that we can go all out for our kids and really have a blast with parties before they grow up and out.. enjoy it and don't justify! we had a huge party for my son's first and it felt great to celebrate all the people in our lives.

Arne's is the best place to rent a tank. They are off I-10 & Studemont in the Montrose/Heights area.
Have a blast. you only turn 1 once. Go for it!

Hi, I have a 16 mo. old son that we also had a huge party for as well...he loved being around all the poeple though...but anyway, we have gotten helium tanks at Party City. It's not huge but it will get the job done, or you can buy two if needed.
