Does Baby Einstein Rot Babies Brains???

Hi there, so my son started watching baby einstein at maybe 5 months old and LOVED it. He'd completely pay attention and we'd watch together for hours. We, of course, played as well and read a lot too. I thought it was good for him to watch this and now.... 5 years later..... I'm not so sure. He is SO smart, everyone including his teachers has always said so, definitley at the top of his class as far as academics go. But he has such a hard time concentrating, he gets distracted very easily, especially by the TV. But even in class they have...

Baby Who Watches Cartoons

I was wondering if their were any other mothers whose baby (under a year old) really liked to watch cartoons. I thought that it was ok for him to watch cartoons with his 2 year old sister but our doctor told us we needed to put him in another room or face him the other way if he is in his exercauser. They dont watch too many cartoons, something like 2 or 3 half hour cartoons a day so I dont really think it is a problem but maybe you guys have some info as to why it is so bad for a baby to watch tv. By the way, he isnt watching baby einstein...

Seriously? No Nap

This week my 2.5 year old has decided that he can no longer be "contained" during naptime. He runs from the bed, escapes from the bedroom (laughing hysterically), hits, pulls hair, kicks, screams, will eventually lay down for a few minutes but will TALK INCESSENTLY about nonsense and then laugh hysterically again and then the escape process restarts. I've tried sitting in front of the door so he can't escape & he beats me on the head like he's playing the bongos. I've tried leaving the room & holding the door closed for a minute thinking...

Giving up Naps

My son will be 3 in October. A week or so ago he started climbing out of his crib repeatedly. We recognized that we were lucky to have the crib for him for so long and changed his crib to a toddler bed. However, now we are having extreme difficulty getting him to go to sleep. He is constantly out of bed. We have tried putting him back in without engaging him (which doesn't work because when he sees us coming he runs back in and then it is a game that he does over and over and over again). We have tried a positive motivation chart...

Baby Einstein Videos

Just wanted opinions on the Baby Einstein Videos. It is my understanding they were developed by a stay at home Mom trying to find something to stimulate her children's minds. I don't obviously want my child raise by the tv but I thought a half hour of this when he's fussy just to settle him down a bit is ok. Does anyone have any of these videos and do they really work?

6 Month Old Sleep Problems?

Hi, My little girl just turned 6 months old and has always been a good sleeper. Lately during bedtime/naptime she will roll back and forth in her crib and can't fall asleep. After an hour of this she gets overtired and is a mess and we end up having to bounce her to sleep. For the past week it's been taking us a few hours to get her to sleep. She's fine once she's down, but we're exhausted! I'm not one for CIO, so any other suggestions would be really appreciated! Thanks so much!
