Miralax for Toddler

My son has been battling constipation as we've gotten full into potty training. I know this can be a normal thing but we've had a couple of bouts here lately that have been really tough. So his pediatrician finally convinced me to buy Miralax today. I have been really reluctant to give him anything "unnatural," preferring to use prunes and that kind of thing, but she explained that after an episode or 2 of constipation the end of the bowels can actually stretch out a little, making the next poop that forms bigger than normal, and it...

Moms of Breastfeeding 14-18 Month olds...PLEASE READ and HELP!!!!!

Hi moms! I really need your help! I am having quite the time with my 16 month old daughter and her pooping patterns/tendencies. I need to hear about your children’s poop habits so I can decide if I really have something to be concerned over or if I am just being a worry wart mom. Here is the “issue” that she is having. My daughter was exclusively breastfed until she was 9 ½ months old. When she started eating solids then, she was eating “finger foods” as she has a strong gag reflux and anything pureed or remotely soft in texture...

Introducing Solids to Daughter, Digestion Is Tough

I have a 5 month old daughter just starting out on some solids. We prepare fresh fruits, veggies, oatmeal and rice. She also enjoys cherrios and graham crackers. Obviously her digestion has changed, but should she labor with bowel movements? I think this may be the reason she was up crying every two hours tonight. Anyone have the same experience and any suggestions? I will discuss with our family doctor next visit.

Any Advice for Dealing with Reflux????

My daughter is 5 1/2 weeks old and has reflux. The doctor recommended sitting her up after feedings and burping her more often throughout feedings to keep the formula from coming back up. I know she is tired of sitting up majority of the time and throughout the night. Any suggestions to help her through this?? She also seems to be congested. At times she will spit up and it will come through her nose and mouth, but she will start to choke on the milk and alot of flegm will come out of her mouth, and it is hard for her to catch her...

Miralax "Clean Out"

My son is VERY constipated and the dr said we had to do a "clean out" as he called it. We had to do Miralax 4x today, 4x tomorrow, then monitor from there. My question is when will it start to work? He hardly had anything today and I want this to get started (so we can get it done!). Any thoughts? I'm calling the dr on Friday if I'm not seeing enough "results" by then.

Miralax and Constipation

Since we started school we have been battling with constipation with our 5 year old. I think it is the transition from "free range" drinking to structure. I have met with the dr countless times and first we tried diet changes with no luck, now we are on miralax. I just wonder if anyone has used this long term with their child and has an opinion. I tried taking her off it over the Christmas break and over spring break but the constipation comes back horribly. I was wondering if putting her on a drinking schedule may help? I could have...

Anyone Use Miralax?

My almost-3-year-old had horrible constipation issues that were finally resolved w/ Miralax. It works wonders. My ped told me it is OK for him to stay on it awhile, but I wondered if anyone had any experience w/ long-term use? I'm concerned that if he becomes too reliant on it he will have a difficult time later on. Any advice?

3 Year Old Now Refuses to Poop on Potty

My 3 year old was constipated about 2 weeks ago, and when he finally went, it hurt. Since then, he holds in his poop and refuses to go. You can see that he has to have a BM, but he holds it in instead. We will put him on the potty, but he refuses to go. When he does go, he is crying and screaming because it hurts. Any thoughts or suggestions to help get our little man back on track would be greatly appreciated.
