Is First Years or Evenflo Breast Pumps Any Good?

When my son and daughter were born premature, the WIC offices where I lived provided a motorized Medella pump supplied from a medical supply store. Obviously this was very good. I know that Medellas are sold in Target but I also seen other brands. Is there an "off" brand ie, Evenflo, First Years, etc. that is comparable but without the price??

Advice on Having a Baby W/o Insurance

My husband and I are talking about having another child. There are a couple if issues. Starting over would be difficult, but could be managed. We don't have health insurance like we did the first time. And, I'll be 38 in December. It's kind of a now or never feeling. The first time around we had excellent insurance which translated to excellent care. Can anyone tell me how to do it without insurance? I've read adds from Healthy Start saying "pregnant? we can help" But I kind of feel like that is for the younger low income women who are...

She Is Not a Baby!

So here is the thing, we have a child that we have adopited after being our foster child. We also have three kids of our own. Now the trouble we are having is that other people will treat our adopited child differantly than our other kids. They will want to hold her more and let her get away with things that other kids do not. When she is in trouble they want to comfort her, rather than stand by us. We are having a hard time all the way around with other people treating her like a baby. She is almost 4 and VERY small for her age. She still...

Infant Sleeping in Parents' Bed

Quick question for moms out there who slept with their newborn/infant. What worked for you in terms of keeping baby safe while sleeping in your bed? Did you use an infant positioner? Did baby just lay next to you on top of your covers? I'm hoping for some advice on this. Also, how did you keep your baby warm/cool enough when sleeping with you? Thanks!

Infant with Kidney Stones

I was just wondering if any of you moms have dealt with this or are dealing with an infant with kidney stones? My 6 1/2 month old son has kidney stones and we also just recently found out he was born with only one kidney. We dont know why he has the stones. He has gone to the childrens hospital in Pittsburgh for urine and blood tests and hopefully we will find out March 3rd what is causing the stones. It could either be something in his blood (which would be ok because they can be treated with meds) or a certain condition which would mean...

Seeking Advice - Baby Has Not Rolled Over

I have a 7 1/2 mo. old girl and she has not rolled over yet. I'm a bit concerned in the fact that alot of babies have rolled over by now. She has not rolled over once on her own from back to front or front to back. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions on what I can do to help her? I've tried tummy time but she always hates it and would get so frustrated that I end up picking her up because she would bury her face in the blanket. Any suggestions you have or did with your baby would be helpful. Thanks a bunch!

And I am worried that this is just escalating into something more serious. In all her life she never had a fever before and only had runny nose twice for a day. And I tend to freak out 😱😩

"What Are Your Thoughts on So Many Vaccines Before Age 2"

I have been interviewing pediatricians and reading so much about the concerns over the 35 vaccinations a baby receives in its first two years. I'm very worried and concerned. I do want to vaccinate, but why so many in just two years. Can anyone provide more insight to their own experience and choices with having vaccinated their child with all 35 over the last two+ years?

Baby Criying Himself to Sleep

My son is 6 months he was a very fussy baby since birth, he cried a lot specially night time and for hours. People told me that I spoiled him because the only way he would fall asleep was by being rocked.. so we decided to get him a swing because we thought it would help a lot which it did, at times he would sleep there at night because that's the only place he would last sleeping.. he's big now and will be growing out of the swing soon he also cries himself to sleep all the time and takes very little naps during the day. When Do You Actually Refer to Age in Years?

So I'm at Target with my daughter today and I run into a friend. Her sister is in town along with her son and the three of them were looking at toys. My friend's nephew was darling. I asked her sister "how old is he?" Her response? "Forty two months." Really? Really???? Geez, he's three and a half. I understand that there may be medical or theraputic reasons to refer to a child's age in months, but for the sake of a simple conversation, was this really necessary? At what age do you refer to your child in years and not...

Baby Teeth Problems

My son has finally got his two front teeth. They are huge! Like adult teeth. Also, he has a rather noticable gap between them. The gap is something that most of the people on my husband's side of the family have and get fixed. When do I take him to a dentist to see what we should do?
