To Nanny or Not to Nanny?

I just came back to work after having #3. My kids have always attended a Daycare Center and I’ve been happy with that. The cost for three children, however, is likely more or equal to what a Nanny would charge (or so I think). Aside from the benefit of not having to get the children ready and out the door in the morning, what other advantages are there to having a nanny vs. the daycare center? What are the disadvantages? How did you go about choosing one?

Is First Years or Evenflo Breast Pumps Any Good?

When my son and daughter were born premature, the WIC offices where I lived provided a motorized Medella pump supplied from a medical supply store. Obviously this was very good. I know that Medellas are sold in Target but I also seen other brands. Is there an "off" brand ie, Evenflo, First Years, etc. that is comparable but without the price??

Hi, I have a 4-year-old boy who is very intelligent. He was reading and doing multiplication at age 2....I've been teaching him preschool at home but have recently enrolled him in a half-day preschool program two days a week to help him with his social interaction with kid's his own age. He's schollastically very advanced but socially and emotionally still a little preschooler. He comes home from preschool complaining that he's bored because he already knows what is being taught. I am concerned that he may be bored in Kindergarten as...

Ready for Kindergarten

My daughter is 4 years old and has a September birthday. She has been going to a preschool for two years now and is in the fours class. I recently had a review with her teacher and she recommended pre-k. She agreed that my child is very smart, but she is also shy. She felt that my child was not ready for Kindergarten because of that and that she is not a leader, her confidence level is low and is not into the other things the other girls are into like Hanna Montana and High School Musical. Personally I don't think that has anything to do...

Early birthday-Pre-k or Kindergarten

Hi, You all were so amazing with my first ever question that I thought I would throw this one out, even though I know there are some very firm opinions about it. Our son will be turning 5 in August. We have him registered for both Pre-K and kindergarten. He has been in preschool 3 years already and he is quite bright. We know he can handle the workload of a 1/2 day kindergarten in Keller but the maturity is the big question in our mind. We know that teachers don't expect perfect angels and we feel he would be forced to "mature" going to...

School or No School

Hi Everyone, I have a dilema that has come up recently. I decided to take online classes. The first one I really enjoyed and did not have trouble finding time for it. I now am in the second class, and instead of 3 assignments a week I have betwen 5 and 7. The teacher even has homework due on Saturdays and Sundays. In my spare time I work at a photography studio three times a week. I also volunteer and have many mom's groups I attend. I just want to know your thoughts on school and whether I should continue it, or postpone it again? I...
