Your Favorite Reusable Potty Training Pants....

My 26 month old is showing great interest in potty training, and I'm just going to go with it. Drawback is anytime I put underwear on he potties right through them (obviously), any disposable pull ups are too much like a diaper and he doesn't 'use' the potty. I strip him naked and he so excited to use the big boy potty, and literally 'trying' every five minutes on his own. I think the cold air is making him slightly sensitive.

So I was hoping there was some type of reusuable diaper that didn't have that crunchy vinyl waterproof stuff, but can hold one good pee. I have a few of those gerber (non vinyl) training pants from my oldest but they really aren't holding any more than the regular underwear at this point.

I had him in my Softbums shell with no insert today, and it seem to work decently, and he still was 'trying' on his own to go. Problem was he couldn't really pull them up and down, and when he undid the velcro he was all about streaking. I don't have a problem with it, except when I saw all the places he was sitting it kind of grossed me out. Would like to cover that tooshie but still give him the ease and 'control' to do it himself.

I saw on a diaper blog about these 'super undies" but at $17 a pop, I'd like some review, or maybe some other moms with a favorite they like. I've heard quite a few good reviews about the blueberry training pants too.

Thoughts--suggestions--reviews?

TIA

I clothed diapered my kids, so I was able to just use our regular diapers till they were ready for trainers. I am a big believer in letting them have accidents.

If I was you, I'd just use the Gerber's, but him in thick pants, and deal with the mess. Or let him run naked. Naked is the best way to train fast, if you ask me. Both of my kids were trained around 21 months, including night time.

Sorry that I can't suggest training pants, I decided they were a waste of money and that I could handle some pee on my floors.

What about the thick, cotton Gerber training pants?
They worked really well for us.

We used the Gerber training pants with the Gerber non vinyl pants over them if we were going out, just the trainers at home. You want him to feel the wet so he has an incentive to use the potty.

Hi. We are using Potty Scotty's, they are cotton. I got them from Amazon.com, I can't remember how much they are a piece, maybe $8. We also bought nylon covers (also from potty scotty) to use over them as extra protection. They will hold one pee and one #2 but that's it, but at least it keeps things hygenic. I just drop them in the wash when they have any accident and then air dry. They will shrink if you do not air dry them. My kids have accidents all of the time, they could care less about being potty trained. Also, my kids go to daycare, so when they start caring about being potty trained, they will not make a mess for the daycare, if they have an accident.

I started off putting DD in Gerber underpants and a BumGenius cover with no insert. Saved my carpet and let her feel wet. I didn't make it supertight so she could pull it off.

I also used to choose her pants for absorbancy and ease of removal. Sweatpants worked well.
