I am new to the area and need to know which Jackson, MS area hospital has the best reputation. Also which one is best for post breast cancer followup (finished treatment and it is too expensive to commute to Seattle) for routine follow up?

I am also looking for a doctor, dentist, and GYN.

Thanks,
L.

L.,
My GYN is Dr. Roy Kellum @ Jackson Healthcare for Women (it's in Flowood). They have a great staff and he's the best GYN, I've ever used.
Dr. Susanne Moore @ MooreSmiles in Brandon (it's actually in the Reservoir area) is a really great dentist. Takes tons of different insurers (unlike some of the other dentists in the area). Highly highly recommend!
PS - Welcome to the area! Now is a great time to move here - the weather is awesome for the next 9 months or so.

GYN - Dr. M. Treavlestead (this is the one I see, and I love, love, love her) she was taking new patients on a limited basis a couple of months ago so it is definitely worth a try. If she is full Dr Gnam is great; both are warm hearted with great bedside manner and very straight forward. They will do anything to help you feel better.

The best hospitals here in Jackson are Baptist hospital, St. Dominics and the University. I have used all 3 and they are great.

Not sure which hospital would be best...

but for OB-GYN definatly Dr. Shani Meck. She is the best of the best. She is off of Lakeland Drive in the same building as River Oaks baby suites. Phone number is ###-###-####

Baptist is definitely a great hospital, especially for Cancer care. My mom had breast cancer and passed away, but her oncologist was Gerri Houston, who was wonderful. For Gyn--I absolutely love Meredith Travelstead, but I don't think she takes new patients. In fact, I'm not sure if any of the female ones are taking new patients at Women's Clinic. I have heard great things about other female doctors at River Oaks and the clinic in Madison (forgot the name), depending on where you live. A good family medicine doctor is Dr. Diane Ferguson in Ridgeland. She really cares about you. I have several friends that go to her, as well as my grandmother and me. Dr. Manisha Sethi in Ridgeland is also great. She does internal medicine and pediatrics...is certified in both. She's extremely intelligent, graduated way early, young, entergetic, open on Saturday mornings as well. Has a beautiful clinic! My daughter goes to her. She can tend to over-medicate though.

Baptist has an excellent Cancer center and I highly recommend it for followup.
For a gyn.. I recommend Joel Payne at Jackson Healthcare for Women. Great doctor, very understanding, treats you the way he would his mother, sister, daughter, etc.
For a GP, I recommend Dr. Robert Russell at Ridgeland Family Medical Clinic if you are closer to Madison/Ridgeland. If you are closer to the Pearl/Brandon area, I recommend Dr. Michael Albert at Mississippi Family Doctors in Pearl.
For a dentist, I am currently looking for a new one myself so the only thing I can recommend is do not use Dr. Germany in Brandon. Very very poor service.

Hope this helps!
J.
