I"m looking for shoes to wear with slacks that have a slight fat heel but are not pumps. I would refer to them as casual dress shoes. sort of like pennylloaferes but raisesd up. and of course in wide width which makes it even harder.

and what about kids shoes. --sneakers, maryjanes etc what do you find to be the best value -department stores payless?? something else?

thanks

What can I do next?

I have a very wide foot and for my "work" shoes for the office I find a lot at Avenue. You can go to their website also. The brand they sell is called Cloudwalkers. Also, I've had a lot of luck buying shoes online. I have bought many pairs of hush puppies from Amazon.com. If they are on sale you can get some great deals. I don't mind paying for good shoes though. Becasue I have such a hard time finding shoes that fit, I think it's worth paying the money to get a good pair.

My 8 yr. old son also has wide foot. We have good luck with sketchers and new balance for him. Again, I usually end up buying his online. Amazon, endless.com or zappos.com.

Good luck!

We all wear hard to find sizes and the best place I have found is Payless. I hope you find something that works for you. Good luck!

Famous Footwear, however, I don't know about finding penny loafers there.

I wear an 11W and I almost always get my shoes on Zappos.com. Free shipping both ways AND much of the time you get free next day shipping. I also buy wide widths on Shoebuy.com. Have you looked at Clark's brand shoes? They have a good selection of what you are describing. I often buy my Clark's on Zappos or QVC.com.

Not sure what to recommend for kids shoes. We usually try Kohl's...tired of cheap sneakers wearing out in a couple months on my 7 y.o. son. Good luck!

Payless. And, if you find a pair you like but they don't have your size they'll check the other stores and give you a coupon.

Stride Rite for kids, thats where I get my daughters shoes. Pricey, but they last.

My kiddos have fat wide thick feet so we buy See Kai Run and they are great, but the price keeps going up, so that is a bummer. Our store where we buy them has started carrying We Squeeks and they are about $30 and seem to be wide as well. And the squeekers come out if you go crazy.

In general, I have found that the less expensive shoes tend to run larger and wider (I have the opposite problem with my dd - very narrow foot)

When we go to target or payless...the shoes are waayyy too big - mainly because of her narrow foot. I would try the inexpensive stores first. They do have some shoes marked as wide as well.

Kmart always has a good selection of wide shoes. For sneakers, we get my son New Balance which has good wide sneakers for kids. I buy them at Shopko in Wisconsin but they are easy to find.

On line check out: Joes New Balance Outlet. They have pretty good prices for kids shoes. I know they go up to at least size 4E in width.

For kids sneakers, we have always gone with Stride Rite, which has great shoes, really good quality and they come in both wide and extra wide. They may also have Mary Janes in wider shoe, but I've never looked (only needed shoes there for my son so far). New Balance also makes good shoes that come in a wide.

For an adult, I had a pair of really comfy shoes from Easy Spirit that were a wide. Definitely worth looking into.

DSW.com. You can search the website for what you are looking for, when you find a style you like you can see if it is an online exclusive or also sold in store, then click a button to see if it is available in a store near you. If you do order from the online store and it doesn't fit or look right you can return to the store. Make sure you keep your paper work that is enclosed on the box. It's an easy return.

I have a lot of trouble finding any flat heeled shoe that actually fits me. I have ordered 4-5 pair, online, and had to return them all. The store personnel were very nice and understanding.

I have had pretty good success finding shoes I actually like (and fit) at endless.com. It can be a little more expensive, but they ship quickly and have free returns. The filters can really help you narrow down what you are looking for so you don't have to go through pages and pages of flats looking for something that is actually your taste, and in your price range.

We found a lot of shoes that fit DD's wider feet in Payless. I get some of my own shoes there. I also found Sketcher's Bikers when I was pregnant and bought several pairs. Depending on the office and style, you can wear them with slacks. I've also gotten DD's shoes at Target and Kohl's. Easy Spirit has nice women's shoes, but they don't carry my small size.
