What's Your Daily Breakfast?

Since I started taking BP medicine, I have to eat breakfast almost immediately every morning. It's tough for me, because I rarely eat breakfast (although I'll make breakfast for dinner ANY night!). So I'm adjusting.

I'm not going to make myself a full plate of breakfast every morning, and no one else eats breakfast at home. What are YOUR favorite breakfast foods? Which are your favorite healthy ones?

I'm kind of over 1/2 a bagel every morning.... which is saying a lot, because I could eat my weight in bagels ;)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh yeah, the hard part: I don't drink milk, cereal's out. Oatmeal is my son's favorite, but I can't stand it!

BUT, I'm not against dry cereal; what are your favorite cereals?

I usually eat leftovers, all 5 of us eat different things for breakfast. The 4 others actually eat breakfast food. I like english muffins with butter and peanut butter, bagel and cream cheese, oatmeal when its cold out and cereal when its hot out. =)

I am not a breakfast person either and prefer to eat a few hours later..but I got this wicked tummy bug a few weekends ago, and my belly has not been right since, so I wake up needing to put a little something in there or I feel icky all day.

I can not stand oatmeal either, but found a kind that is technically a multigrain hot cereal, made by Better oats, called Abundance (I get the cinn apple one). I like this with a sprinkle of sweetner on it, but if you put oatmeal (instant or "real" in front of me), I may yak in it.

I also like instant grits..add butter or margarine. Weird I know, but it was my "hot cereal" as a kid since I hate oatmeal and I still love the stuff. Thanks Mom!

Lately for my teenager, I have been using the muffin tins and making either whole eggs or a scrambled egg concoction of her liking and baking up 6 or 12 and wrapping them individually. Then she nukes one with some fave real cheese (swiss or provolone or pepper jack) on top as she toasts a lower cal english muffin. Squishes it all together for a breakfast sandwich as she darts out the door to her teenage car pool! This week we are going to experiment with some hash browns in the scrambled egg kind?

I don't do milk either. My fave if I have to eat it, is some grainy/"twigs and nuts" type of hearty bread toasted with peanut butter, with some coffee or hot tea.

Good luck!

I like oatmeal (not instant) made with milk. I cut up fresh fruit and put in some brown sugar. I also like toast with cream cheese or scrambled eggs. I also enjoy yogurt with banana's. I get plain yogurt and cut up a banana to put on top and then add honey. Yum! My favorite cereal is Bare Naked granola - the protein one.

I dunk a toast-like sugarless bread (spread with honey) in hot tea. I eat about 4/5 slices every morning (about 6.30am). It fills me uo until 12.45, my lunch break at the office. Whe I get bored with it (or Summer comes) I eat yogurt with cereals.

I eat weird breakfasts.

- Leftovers
- Burritos
- Sammies
- Anything that zaps (frozen meals)
- Orange Chicken
- Saag Paneer

I prefer breakfast for dinner, myself!
- Eggs Benedict
- Crepes!
- Sausage Egg Potato scrambles
- Bacon Fried Eggs
- Omelettes (actually, I prefer omlettes at 2am)
- Toad in a hole (take a glass and cut out a circle in a slice of bread. Butter the bread & hole... bread in a sautee pan... egg in the hole)
- steel cut oats
- lox lox lox lox
- fruity pebbles or crispex

Breakfast foods in the morning just make me feel nauseaus or sleepy or both. I quit eating breakfasty foods for breakfast when I was 9.

mmmm. bagels. I love carbs. especially for breakfast! I like: yogurt, bagels with cream cheese, english muffins (w/ peanut or almond butter), cereal with fruit in it, oatmeal, sometimes eggs (if it's a weekend, or if I'm making my son an omelette) I am hypoglycemic so I have to have protein asap in the morning and it's hard because I'm not always hungry!

Isn't breakfast the most important meal of the day :) I think it would be a good idea for you and your family especially kids to join you for breakfast everyday , since it makes a lot of difference to your energy levels and your day just goes better.

You can eat scrambled eggs and toast , omlette with veggies , boiled eggs , fruit and yogurt smoothies.

Dry cereal - I love Honey nut cheerios.

2 eggs with cheese and 1/2 a grapefruit or strawberries. or sometimes a tortilla with eggs, cheese and turkey sausage. Neither takes that long to make. I am a firm believer in having protein for breakfast, even my kids. Jimmy Dean makes a Delight line with turkey sausage that is good for on the go if you need it.

Best muffin recipe! It's super healthy. You can swap out fruits and nuts, make a double batch, and freeze them. Then you can pop one into the microwave for 20 seconds, and you're ready to go!

My favorite version uses dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, and lemon zest.

can be anything you want. Doesnt HAVE to be breakfast types. We eat variety every morning. I have a craving for boxed cereal but the sugar and sodium in it about kills me. I limit my kids to that once a week ONLY!!! and they only get stuff like Cheerios and granola. I break down once in a great while and get the super sweet junk... oops. once a week remind you... anyway my fav is whole wheat toast with some apple butter, glass of OJ and some grapefruit or Orange. Smoothies are my 2nd favorite. My kids are all for Smoothies of all kind with protein powder and even sometimes veggies all blended in there.

Vanilla yogurt with granola and fresh strawberries is so yummy.

I use egg-beaters to make a quick omelet, or get the already-cooked bacon, cook up some egg beats, and have a egg & bacon sandwich. I also like just egg sandwiches.

Oatmeal is always good if you like it. You can sprinkle in some brown sugar and nuts.

Make biscuits ahead and keep them in the freezer, microwave them when you're ready to eat, and buy the microwave sausage patties to cook quickly for a sausage biscuit in the a.m, my hubby does this a lot.

We have made breakfast quiches in muffin tins, frozen them, and microwave when you're ready to eat.

I always like a good bowl of cereal. :)

Also, I'm from the school of thought that breakfast doesn't have to be typical breakfast food. I've been known to eat soup or a sandwich for breakfast just because I'm not much of a breakfast fan. I hardly EVER eat breakfast, so I can see your dilemma!

I am not a breakfast food person at all. I will be the one with a 1/2 cheese sandwich or something.

I do eat a nice big lunch around 11 and my dinner is hardly anything. I will taste whatever I cook for the family but I don't eat much at all. i'm pretty much a 1 good meal a day person.

I can see if you are on meds that it would be hard to adjust.

Have you tried Steel cut oats? Very different from the instant mush! I used to think I didn't like oatmeal also: But I do! :)
I eat many different things- lots of left overs from the night before.
Eggs often-
Egg, sausage patty on a bagel- (or I use hamburger or ham)
Def always try to eat protein- just a bagel will create a spike then drop in your blood sugar.
If it is a day I just really don't feel like eating I do a protein shake with fruit or yogurt or both. I like Spiru tein (Natures Plus), Vitality for LIfe- chocolate or vanilla, or when my budget allows: Shakeology. I use a variety of all three.

I pre cook bacon or sausage patties, and egg whites (in small one egg pan) and I heat them up and put them on a toasted bagel thin or english muffin (depends on the day) with a slice of 2%cheese (colby pepperjack or cheddar) mustart or hotsauce and make a sandwich - sometimes I cook spinach into the egg.
I like greek yogurt (blueberry) and granola
Pre make French Toast (a few days worth like the eggs) and I use maple extract and vanilla with the milk and eggs and re heat in the toaster and use apple butter and make a sandwich with a banana on the side
My son eats most of these things too but I am addicted to cereal but I REFUSE to drink milk - maybe you will like it in cereal if you have not tried it.

I'm on a weight loss quest so I have a Wal Mart "Slim Fast" so I can take all my vitamins. It helps me digest them better.

I tend to front load my day eating wise. I'll eat more in the morning and eat less as the day goes on. That way I'm powered up for 90 minutes at the gym and afterwards I'm so wiped out I'm not even hungry but still force myself to eat something. Right now we're LOVING strawberries.

Mostly I like dinner foods for breakfast. Maybe it will help if you do not limit yourself to just "breakfasty" foods. Often I will have leftovers from dinner: stir fry, soup, stroganoff, pasta, etc. Or I will throw some chopped greens (spinach, cabbage, bok choy, etc) into a frying pan, cook till they are softened, and then throw an egg on top and cook it a bit. It is very good and fills me up. Sometimes I add salsa or marinara sauce, or even a bit of meat. Other days I will do a smoothie, just throw a bunch of fresh and/or frozen fruit and veggies like carrots or spinach and some water into the blender. My friend gets upset tummy in the morning, but swears by those Campbells soup-to-go that you can just sip on. My husband likes to throw yogurt onto granola or Honey Bunches of Oats. So, there are a few more breakfast ideas for you besides oatmeal and cereal :)
