What The?! What's Going on with Me?

I have mouth ulcers and now a stye on my eye. Why do these things happen all at once. I feel like I should be quarantined! How do you make yourself feel better when you're run down and feeling blah? I don't have the option of staying home and resting, so I'll head into work looking like a swamp monster! Bleuggghhh.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh thank you everyone! My canker sores are not bleeding. I was going to go to the pool at lunchtime, but I don't really want to go when I've got a puffed-up eye - it could put all the other punters off! I do sound stressed don't I? The truth is, I don't think I am, I love going to work, but perhaps I just need some healthy food, clear water, vitamins, and a bit of R'n'R! My health has not been great with a little tummy upset and sore shoulder. I am sick of the sound of myself complaining! It's so nice to get a little TLC and sympathy here - I think my husband is over it!! Thanks!

Oh, I hate stuff like that! No advice (except maybe to take Llysine daily because I *think* an ulcer is from the same virus that causes cold sores). Just wanted to offer support!

If you go to urgent care they can give you some eye drops that will take action within a half an hour. And perhaps they can help out with the mouth ulcer situation too. Sometimes just leaving on my mascara overnight would make a stye. Compresses never helped me. Whatever it is, it's no fun. Keep your hands clean and have a brush for underneath your nails to when you wash them. Don't touch your eyes. You sound stressed too. Try a bath with candles, soft music and time for yourself. The most thing of value is time. There are plenty of studies that show music is good for us and can change our mood. Take yourself out once in awhile to see a movie at the discount theatre, or go to Glen Ivy Hot Springs for a day, or read a book, whatever it is that J. likes to do. Treat you like you're special. You are, ya know.

Take L-Lysine. It will help with the pain and help reduce the sores.

Pamper yourself with a candlelight bath and soft music. You sound like you are very stressed out. Take some "me" time.

I was hindered with styes when I was pregnant with my first baby. It was a real pain. I asked the pharmacist and he recommended a gel that I got over the counter. It gave me such relief from the itching and swelling. It came in a tiny tube and you just lay a bead in your lower eyelid then keep your eye closed so it has time to roll around and do it's magic.
As for mouth ulcers, avoid anything acidic.
You can try gargling with pepto bismol or even chomping on antacid tablets and letting them sit in your mouth a while.
If the mouth ulcers don't go away, you may need a liquid antibiotic to gargle and swallow if it's thrush.

Try the over the counter things to see if they help and then go from there.

Best wishes.

sounds like you are totally stressed..

have those ulcers checked out pronto - we had one mama's boy here in the hospital with them - it was bad - I felt so sorry for him and the whole family!!!

When I'm feeling run down? I relax in a nice hot bath - and if it's a hot day - a dip in the pool.

I don't think you should go to work - if the ulcers are bleeding - you don't know what they are - they could be contagious. please get them checked out. I'll ask the other mama what her son had and inbox you.

When I get run down I drink a lot of water and 2x per day I will add a packet of EmergenC or the CVS equivalent that is much cheaper. It is a fizzy powder you add to water and it gives you a mega dose of vitamin C and the B vitamins that need to be taken as a group (complex). By mouth ulcer do you mean canker sores? I get those occasionally and here is some info:
http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/guide/canker-sores
When I get those I rinse with salt water (about 1 teaspoon dissolved in 8 oz luke warm water). Then I use Anbesol (the liquid or gel you can buy at CVS for tooth aches) and dab it on the canker sore several times a day to numb the sore. It also has alcohol in it so it will disinfect a bit too. You will need to carefully brush to avoid hurting that spot. Mine are a lot less painful after about 3 days, but probably take about a week to fully go away.
For a stye you need to put hot compresses on the eye (wash cloth or several cotton rounds dipped in boiling water and cooled just enough so your skin can take it). I close my eyes and try to push the cotton rounds under my lashes to get as close to the stye as possible. I used to get them a lot and there is a kit I used to buy at the pharmacy that included sterile wash and some kind of slightly abrasive pad that you would gently rub on the rim where the stye is after pulling the lid away from the eye. Not sure if this is still available, it was basically a way to open the tube that is plugged and infected to allow the infection to come out.
I would also call the doctor, talk to a nurse, and ask what they recommend. They may want you to try some home redemies like the above but come in if improvement is not noticed in a few days or they may want to see you right away.
PS: no contact lens wearing while you have a stye. No trying to rupture the stye like a pimple since you can cause more damage. Ibuprofen can help reduce swelling and pain.

Mouth ulcers are from stress. Eat yogurt with the lactosbacillus in it. That will help. If you get them often, you may want to go to a doctor.

It is what worked for me. All these outside symptoms are from what is going on inside. Cleanse and it may just go away.

Just this morning, I woke up to cold sores (AGAIN), and I know it's stress. I get these, and/or several other skin issues, when I'm stressed. Getting anything you can off of your plate helps, but for me, sleep and more sleep are the only things that REALLY help. Well, and less stress in my life, but who can control that? ;D

Check out the Acti-Vit daily multivitamins from beachbody.com (the p90x company). They function as a daily multi in terms of all of the vitamins and minerals you need, but are also fortified with antioxidants. I've been taking them for 1.5 months now and feel amazing...my hair & nails are growing like when I was on pre-natals, and my skin looks better than it has in a long time. I'm not even wearing make-up right now, which is very rare for me! Check it out, you might just need to fill in some nutritional gaps.

Put a warm tea bag over your eye, that should get rid of the stye in no time at all.
