What Happened to the Price of Diapers?!

I normally order all my baby butt supplies on amazon because it's cheaper than my local costco.
In Sept. I paid $12.94 for a case of 720 pampers wipes, now $18.49. Luvs size 6, 136 ct, $26.59, now $39.97. Pampers size 3, 222 ct, $29.23, now $47.19.
The price changes by 2 to 3 dollars monthly depending on coupons, but never more than that!
What on earth happened here?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After comparing prices, I went with the Target brand, but I wasn't able to find the $1 off coupon online. It was still the cheapest for wipes and diapers. I'm not crazy about it, the diapers are not as soft as pampers but will just have to do for now =/

Cloth Diapers aren't practical if you live in an apartment and haul to a laundromat!

I HIGHLY reccomend the Target diapers and wipes (and the Walgreens brand is pretty good too)

There's always cloth. RRR's: Reduce, Recycle, Reuse ! Best part is, when you are done needing them as diapers, you can use them as rags and there is nothing better in my opinion.

Amazon dropped its amazon mom discount from an extra 15% off to 5% off for one thing. I use cloth and disposable. Cloth isn't for everyone though we love our cloth diapers.

I switched to cloth with baby number one and have never looked back, I can not believe how much money I have saved! For $100 (so about what you spent today) you can get a great started set and only have to wash about every 2-3 days. You can also cut up old recieving blankets to use as wipes. :)

I agree with Kim C. Cloth diapers are the way to go. For 300.00, you can diaper your baby till they are potty trained. Better for your wallet and the environment. I love the Best Bottom Brand.

Cotton crops have all gone wacko and the price of everything is crazy. You'll see it in everything you normally buy.
Containers are now smaller and price is either the same for less product or raised with less product. It's insane stuff.

Sounds like you got their loss leader. Sometimes stores, or online folks, use a loss leader for certain things only for a certain amount of time. Then they move to another item for their loss leader. Maybe you can check to see what other thing they have on a loss leader special. (Hopefully you'll need it, whatever it is!)

I get Fisher Price diapers. Pkg. of 23 is $5.99. On a sale at babies r us, it is
buy one get one free. I stock up. So 46 diapers for $5.99, not bad. I find they are just as good as Pampers.

It's happening with everything! I buy through Amazon, too, but when this batch of diapers is gone I don't want to buy more, too expensive :( I've already bought training pants and little boy undies, so we're working on the potty training ; )

I bought diapers and wipes at Target yesterday. 720 Target brand wipes was about 13 dollars. The quality is good and I usually buy that brand. Luvs diapers a box of 80 size 5 was 16.99. A similar size box of Huggies or Pampers was a few dollars more, just under 20 dollars. I would also compare the prices of the online sites. If you are in Jersey City I know you have several Babies R Us and Toys R Us locations nearby including a combined on in Seacaucus which is where for baby stuff I shop if I can't get something at Target. (I live about 20-25 minutes away from Jersey City and used to work there.)

My subscribe and save diapers on Amazon (Luvs size 4, 204ct) are still $27.98 and my Pampers wipes are still $12.94. Did your Amazon Prime discount run out?

I know it seems expensive. But you guys are still paying less than I did 27 years ago. When my oldest was young, a very small package of pampers was 14 dollars and if you bought the off brand, they leaked like a sieve. Once the off brands became usable, I left the name brands in the dust.

we buy the Target brand diapers, just as good if not better than Huggies! and a box of size 4 124 ct is $19.99. all of their "big boxes" are $19.99 so we buy them. We have 3 in diapers still so we are all about the best price. we tried Luvs but our boys pee right through them in a second.

It must of been a great deal in September, because that is what I usually pay at Babies R Us. However, Babies R Us has been running some sales on their wipes and diapers. I just paid $29.99 at Target for 116 Size 4 Pampers Baby Drys, and I think at Babies you get either 196 or 176 for $44.99.

Both of my kids have been out of diapers for a few years, but I was invited to a baby shower recently, and I had the idea that I would buy a gift basket of changing table stuff, including diapers. I was totally blown away by the price of diapers now! I swear the cost has at least doubled since my youngest (who is only 6!) was last in diapers. I don't think the technology has changed that much; honestly I can't figure out why the prices would have changed so drastically! I feel sorry for you mamas who still have little ones in diapers... :(

The Target brand are the cheapest diapers. I get size 3, 144 ct for $19.99 and most of the time you can go online and print $1 off coupon. They are great quality too, I've been using them for 2 years same with the wipes.

I don't know, but we use cloth diapers. I don't know how old your kids are, but we spent $400 on diapers that will last from about 6 weeks old-potty training, so we're saving a couple thousand overall, probably. We use bum genius. Just something to consider if cost is an issue.

We do sometimes use disposables at night and I noticed the same thing. Cloth at night too now!
