If you're a super-disciplined person, perhaps you can use eTools without attending meetings. For me, eTools is a great complement to meetings, but I need the accountability of weekly weigh-ins.

The meetings are a better choice unless you feel that you do not need to feel accountable to anyone. Most people such as my self need a partner to be accountable to.

I have used WW to lose weight after my last two children. I recommend going to meetings. The monthly pass mentioned above is only $39.95/month. The support you get at the meetings totally makes it worth the expense. Online works, too, but the meetings help keep me accountable.

I lost 30 pounds the first time and made lifetime. I am already back to my goal weight again. Once you reach your goal weight and make lifetime, you don't have to pay for meetings anymore. I still go almost every week- just to stay on track.

I love being able to tell people that because of WW I weigh less today than I did before I had five kids. :o)

Hi J.!

I tried the WW online and did ok with it but not as successful as I would have liked to have been. When I used it in combination with going to meetings I lost a lot more and faster- I usually only went to meetings 2 times a month. I did the monthly pass and got the WW Etools included in with it for I think it was $39.95 a month. I just stopped going last month for the summer. I do a lot better in the colder months! Just know that no matter how you do it with WW it is a lot healthier of a choice than a lot of the fad diets out there. This is more about making lifestyle changes but still being able to eat what you want!

Good luck to you becoming a "loser" I wish you much success!

Blessings!

I just joined weight watchers about 6 weeks ago. I used to do it online, but I find that the meeting help alot more. It is double the cost, though. Good luck. It's a great program! I never feel hungry.

I did ww online because the meetings were far across town(that I could make it to) and I work so much that when I am able to be home, I want to be home! So, I would definitely recommend it to try. I might not have lost as much as I would have at meetings but I lost and at the end of the day that is what counts! I had to quit because I got pregnant, but plan to re-enroll as soon as I can. I lost over 30 lbs!

I go to the meetings and signed up for a monthly pass which entitles you to the etools. I am on the points program. I find that tracking your food points and activity points is very easy online. You can even calculate points from your own recipes, save favorite meals etc. I was never one to track or keep journals but the etools make counting points easy. I have lost 10 lbs in about a month. Its not a fast process but it shouldn't be either. I am not really 'dieting' but controling protions and make better food choices

Hi, I have not done WW on-line, but I am a lifer now amd love the program. I always felt, for me, to be able to be part of a meeting, initially, was helpful to leep the momentum. There is so much help and understanding. I had a couple friends do the on-line, one didn't do well and the other is making it. The one not doing well, needed the meetings and encouragement. Again, go for it! I love the program and the fact it is not a diet, but a life change. It has been the best decision I have ever made for myself and health and health of my family.

I did WW Online and had great success with it. I lose slowly, but I did lose 30lbs before I ended my membership. I now use Sparkpeople.com. You basically do the same thing, but it logs calories, fat, protein and carbs. The benefit of WW is is gives you little "virtual" reward for each 5lbs lost. Kind of a motivational tool. Both sites are very good. Good luck.

J.,
I am currently doing WW on-line and have been successful. I knew it wouldn't be realistic for me to keep up with weekly meetings, so I gave the on-line version a try instead. I'm not sure if I would have lost weight faster if I went to meetings, but I have definitely changed my eating habits and have been exercising, which is a big success for me. It's very easy to track your food and activity points on-line, so you may want to consider trying on-line first, and if you're not satisfied with the results incorporate the meetings at that time. Good luck!

I have some friends that are in WW. The meetings are the key to success. You really should do those as well. That's what I've always heard from them! Good luck!

as someone who has done ww for YEARS (both pre and post baby), it is much more successful if you go to the meetings. part of what works about the program is NOT feeling isolated in your "journey". good luck either way!

I personally had a hard time with WW online, but I have never tried the meetings. I found I was hungry all the time and didn't have the discipline to keep track of all the points.

What made it difficult is that I cook a lot and that made it difficult to figure out how many points were in anything.
The program itself and the recipes seem to depend a lot of prepared or processed foods and often use things with artificial ingredients like aspartame and low-fat cheeses or fat-free whatever. I'd just a soon eat smaller portions of the real thing than a plasticky chemical filled substitution.

The whole thing is meant to not make you feel deprived but I certainly did. I also didn't like the way it made me obsess over everything I ate. I had better luck just cutting back on everything in general and trying to not think about it too much. I know everyone is different; I've had a couple friends try WW on line with good results, but I found the more I ruminated about losing weight the less successful I was.

I should add that it might also depend on how much weight you want to loose. I've met people who needed to loose a lot of weight and the meetings and support was really helpful for them. I was really only trying for about 20 pounds max; more vanity that health related so perhaps that contributed to it not working for me.

I had success with meetings and less with website but I did enjoy the website because it was easy to find my food items and it figures out the points for you and I liked being able to reference my information online. I'm just not as disciplined as others but I did enjoy the online tool.

I liked it and think it works. I like that you can eat what you want, you can have your free points that you can use one day or at the end of the week. All diets are hard and need dedication, but I think this one is a good one. Good luck I should get back on it I have gained some weight, maybe someday it is hard I love food.

We had a Weight Watchers group at my work. I thought it was great! We all supported each other and since we saw each other 5 days a week, we praised each other for our accomplishments. I have friends who have gone to WW and love it!! I strongly recommend that you try it. It's about helping you in a positive way. Good luck!

My sister uses WW but she goes to the meetings. She's lost 40 pounds in about a year. I DESPERATELY needed to lose weight so at the beginning of the year, I joined WW online. I was impressed with my sister's success, but I didn't want to go sit at the meetings. So I joined online and since the beginning of January I've lost 20 pounds! (Five more to go!) I found it to be a great tool and a big help. If you feel you can lose weight by just following their plan and not necessarily needing the help and support of others, then I think it's a great program. Good luck with your goals!
