Ok. I have a question. We haven't been to our church in over a year and a half. I'm a Christian and so is my husband. We left for some reasons. Our Pastor before, step down around 2005,and our new Pastor began preacher. When we ever had any problems I always contact our old Pastor because I felt ok around him and had that connection. Anyway,my cousin, who's around 18 or 19 has a brain tumor. The doctors don't think its cancerious. They gotta do surgery and my uncle is having a hard time b/c its his and my aunts only child. Of course I called my old Pastor and asked for him to pray for her. Now I been thinking was it the right thing or the wrong thing to call and asked for Prayers, since we haven't been in contact with the church over a year and half. I felt in my heart it was the right thing to do and thats why I did it. But part of me felt like I shouldn't b/c we haven't been there in so long. But my mother told me I did the right thing b/c usually any pastor will pray for anyone church related or not.

What do yall think??

What can I do next?

Asking for prayers is always a good thing. Some people connect with a certain pastor and not with others. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. My the Lord Bless and Keep you during this trying time.

Of course you did the right thing. And your mother is right, a Pastor should pray for anyone in need, whether they go to church or not and even if they don't even believe in God.

I too will pray for your cousin.

Sure, it was OK.
God doesn't really care if you go to church or not. God just doesn't work that way, or keep score!

Oh--BTW, I don't think a pastors prayers have any more magical powers than yours. :) Keep praying!

I'll pray for your cousin as well.

Asking for prayers from ANYONE @ ANYTIME is more than OK!

I don't think God minds who and/or when you pray or who you ask for healing prayers & thoughts.

And, on that note I am sending you & your cousin my prayers...

Blessed Be...

Oh heavens, no, it's not wrong to call your old pastor. Please stop thinking like that. A pastor is a pastor is a pastor. He or she tends to individuals, not just their "flock". And you don't need to attend a church to call on a pastor.

Sending hugs and prayers for your cousin.

Of course it was okay. Asking for prayer if you felt compelled to do so certainly was the right thing. I know a lot of people who belong to Christian churches and they are more than happy to pray for anyone. In fact, one of the churches in my town hosts a dinner every Sunday and anyone/everyone in the community is welcome. They do a lot of outreach. I've never attended, but many, many people do. You don't have to belong to the church, you don't even have to attend the actual services. They just open their doors to anyone.
So, I'm sure your old pastor was glad to hear from you in spite of the circumstances and more than happy that you called to ask him to pray with you.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Best wishes and I hope your cousing will be all right.

I think you are stressing too much about it. What's done is done, will worrying about it undo it? No, so calm down, pray and let it go. Worry is Satan's workshop. Unless the pastor said, "NO I will not pray for _________" then why worry about it? Christians pray for anyone anytime when asked. That's how we love and support each other. I hope your cousin does well and I will be praying too. May peace dwell in you and your home always.

Of course it was the right thing to do. It's a priest's job to help his flock, isn't it? Even when members of the flock stray for a while?

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin, and I'll say a prayer for her.
