I am thinking about taking a vacation to a resort in Mexico or the Caribbean with my three daughters( 15,13 and 11). I got seperated recently, and have never traveled alone out of the country, so a bit nervous about traveling to another country with only my daughters. I would appreciate ideas about a nice safe resort in either location or somewhere local with nice beaches and activities to occupy the kids.

Thanks in Advance !

I went on a cruise recently to the western carribean. It was on Carnival cuise lines out of Tampa, which was very inexpensive and every bit of food is included. We loved it! Our favorite place was the Cayman Islands. It was the most beautiful, and had a lot of fun things to do. If you don't want to cruise, just cook a flight to go directly there and find an all inclusive hotel.

FYI- one of our stops was Cozumel, Mexico - stay away. Gross, Gross, Gross.

I agree with Beaches in Turks and Caicos! We're planning a family vacation there next year. I know several families who have gone and had the time of their lives. They're all well-traveled and found it to be wonderful. My husband and I went to a Sandals resort and it was incredible -Beaches is their family option. I don't think you will be disappointed, and they have all sorts of great things for teens and tweens to do together and apart from you if you wish.

Hi. Sounds like you are going to have a fun trip! There are so many options, like some people have mentioned - cruises, all-inclusives, etc. I can give you info about a VERY inexpensive travel club that I just joined recently. Through it you can get great deals year round to cruises, resorts, etc. Our family went on a 5 day cruise in January and paid only $250 TOTAL. That's a great deal! They have a trip going to the Riviera Maya in Mexico for 4 nights at an all-inclusive resort where there are kid's activities, water activities, and kids 12 and under are only $49. It is $319/person and includes hotel taxes and airport transfers. There will be about 400 different trips to choose from this year, and you can go on as many trips as you'd like to. If you'd like more info, just shoot me an e-mail. ____@____.com

Check out the Atlantis in the Bahamas. I am not sure how soon you are going, but they have a promotion currently where you can get a 4th night free when you pay for 3 nights. It is a resort. I like it because they have activities and events for kids. You can take time for yourself and know that there are structured, supervised activities for them. Then, you guys can meet later for a late evening play date or dinner. It is a good place to do alot or to do nothing. During the month of June, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are scheduled to perform at Atlantis. Plus, they have this optional meal plan that allows you to purchase your meals as a part of your package. One meal plan is literally enough for two people because the portions are so large. I like the all-inclusive, one-stop vacations. That seems to work well for me and my kids, which are 8 and 14. Good Luck. Check them out online.

If you do decide to do Mexico, I would suggest a cruise - again for the same reasons above. One price, all inclusive. Ask your friends or co-workers for a reputable travel agent because there are good cruise deals out there, if you know where to look. Sure you can do it yourself, but if you don't have the time, a travel agent may work for you. Hope you guys have a wonderful vacation.

I would look at the club med site. They have club meds for families-- we did this. I have been to the Turks and Caicos and the Mexico one. Don't be nervous about the travel-- actually when you do travel-- don't show it-- others can pick up on it. What I mean is pretend to know what you are doing or where you are going-- find people who will help. Don't just wander. Good luck.

Beaches, Turks and Caicos.

We took our family there and I've never felt so safe. It is an all inclusive resort, it's secure and friendly. Once you get there, there is soooo much to do! There is no reason to leave the resort once you are there.

Your daughters will love the water park, they have activities geared toward tween/teens and you will fall in love with the beauty of these islands. We cannot wait to go back!

We booked everything through the website, there is no need for a travel agent. They will pick you up at the airport and get you back when it is time to leave. EVERYTHING is handled for you. Check out the website and have fun planning.

Happy and safe travels to you wherever you decide to go!
