Using Two Monitors at the Same Time Without Interference

I have a three year old and an infant and want to use monitors in both rooms. However, one seems to not work from interference and static. I've tried to switch channels but no resolution. I've used three different monitors. I hate to keep buying new ones and they still not work. Does anyone have any experience with this? If I use the same brand in both rooms will that work?

Thank you all for your responses. It's wonderful to have a network of such wise women to seek advice from. You're a Godsend.

Have you looked into monitors on DIFFERENT frequencies? Say, 600 mghz and 900?

My cell phone placed near the receiver messes it up.

I put my babies in the same room for as long as possible, and then when the older one moves I don't put a monitor in that room.

A good alternative is the multi babies/rooms monitor, though. I'd get it if I had the money.

They have to be different frequencies from not only each other, but all other equiptment in your home. Cordless phones will be the biggest culprit of problems. Good luck, channels have nothing to do with it.

Yeah, it's not gonna work like that. I can't explain the waves and frequencies and stuff, but I understand it.

I don't know how monitors are set up, as I have never used them, but how about three devices (one in each child's room and one with you) on the same frequency? Will they sell them like that?

There are a couple of possibilities. If you have a very old cordless phone, this could be causing interference, remote control toys, or lights could also affect it, if you live close to a neighbor with baby monitors on a close wave, they may be causing the interference. Set your two sets at the furthest frequencies, if that does not work, I would look into replacing one with a different type.

Hi L.,

The problem is that monitors are always emitting and receiving. I have been very concerned about electro-magnetic pollution (EMFs)and its effects on children for quite sometime. I am sure you have heard about problems with living near utility towers. Well, those monitors, cell phones, TVs, digital alarm clocks and mobile phones may pose serious harm to developing children. If you must use a monitor(cell phone, any electronic), please place it as far away from baby as possible. Please check-out my website for some shocking information about all these little seemingly harmless electronics. A rise in autism, neurological disorders has risen with the rise of usage of electronic gadgets. www.mybiopro.com/claudia13 Biopro has some great solutions to all this pollution. another site to check out is www.antennasearch.com. I was shocked when I learned that many other countries have banned cell phones for child usage and banned many towers in housing buildings, schools and public places...USA has not.

We experienced this same thing and tried several different kinds. My kiddos are 13 months apart. We finally settled on Fisher Price. With 2 separate monitors in each room. We had them set on different channels. This has worked for 3 years GREAT! Just recently they want to share a room, so it is very weird only have 1 monitor.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

We have two different monitors for my almost 3 year old and my 7 month old. I think they are different frequencies. The newest one is a 900 mhz and I'm not sure what the older one is, but I know it's different. If you have 2 that are on the same frequency, it won't work. I think they do sell monitors that can work in 2 rooms. I looked into it, but it was a lot more expensive than buying a $30 monitor for my daughter's room and moving the video monitor to the baby's room. So, either check the frequencies and make sure you get 2 monitors that are different or look into a dual monitor. There is definitely a solution! Good luck.

Have you checked online or at Babies r us for other monitors? I feel like I once saw a monitor that had two base units and one receiver. Try checking on that. Good luck.

i use the same brand (sony) and exact same model monitors in both of my sons' room, and just have them on two different channels. i have never had any problem with interferece or static--we're going on 8 months. in fact, i can switch either receiver to either channel and pick up what is going on in that room, which is convenient if i only have one receiver with me. hope that helps!
