My husband and I have been trying for over 6 months to get pregnant again. We have one child she will be three this summer. When we got pregnant the first time it was easy it took a couple of months. This time its just not working. I haven't been on any form of birthcontrol since before my daughter was born. The only form of birth control we used was condoms. I have even been using the ovulation charts, nothing is working. My cycle has changed also in the last 4 or 5 months also it ranges from a 28 day cycle to a 32 day cycle it switches back and forth. Should I go see my doc?

What can I do next?

Your body may not be making enough progesterone or you have excess estrogen. It's a simple remedy, just go to a health food store and get some natural progesterone cream and you rub it on like a lotion. We tried for a long time to get pregnant with our first and then I began using progesterone cream and got pregnant within a couple of weeks of using it with our first... and then have had 2 additional babies now as well.

I used the cream on this site. It is supposed to be one of the best. http://www.optimalnaturalhealth.com

doctor wont do much until you've been trying for a year with no luck, but might be a good idea just to check general health, hormone levels etc, if there is something obvious with all of that then it would be better to know and hopefully manage it. good luck, i know how frustrating that is

As we get older alot of times we are not ovulating. So, I suggest that you get Prolief a natural hormone balancing cream. I know of several women that it has helped them to get pregnant. Ck out the web at www.successfromtheheart.myarbonne.com

Probably others have already responded to you, but I always heard if you were over 35 yrs old and you've tried for 6 mos, then it's worth checking with a doctor to be sure there's nothing wrong. If you're younger, you have more time and sometimes it just takes longer than you'd think. Good luck!

a doc wont do anything until its been a year! but you might take your temp every morning before you get out of bed and keep track of it when it goes up your ovulating. if you dont have a period then your not ovulating. so eat right and exercise and drink water that helps and i proped my butt up on a pillow during intercores and yes laid there for a while. good luck!

If you havent already read the book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. Your local library will have a copy you can borrow. It is a great book to read.
As it has been pointed out 6 months isnt that long to try. Studies a couple of years ago actually showed that a healthy couple with no known issues can actually take up to 2 yrs to get pregnant on their own. Though the general rule of thumb is a yr before a dr will look at you or your husband.
Charting your cycles is a good thing to do and you should keep it up. The reason I say that is IF you have to go to your dr for infertility testing you will have those charts to show him/her so they can see what your cycle is looking like.

We were like you for our first child. It only took one month of trying and we had a beautiful baby boy. For the second one I thought it would be the same way but it ended up taking 8 months and then we miscarried and it took another 8 months. I'm happy to report I am 35 weeks pregnant with another boy. I never had a regular cycle. I spoke to my doctor but he said basically the same thing everyone else is saying that he wouldn't send me to a specialist till we had been actively trying for a year. He gave me a few suggestions and the first month we tried them, it worked!!! He said on the 10th day of your cycle (from the first day of your last period) start having sex every other day for like a week. He also suggested for me to elevate my hips and after intercourse to remain laying down with my pelvis lifted. Some of it might be old wives tales but it worked for us. Good luck and just remember that there is a reason for everything. It will happen when God knows you are ready.

Try buying some ovulation test strips online. They don't come w/ the fancy packaging (you'll have to pee into a little dixie cup and stick the strip in), but it's a lot cheaper and you'll be able to afford to buy enough to start testing earlier than you think. I think it recommends starting 2-3 days before you expect, and I started way before that, only to find that I was ovulating right then, it was a huge help, my cycle was irregular after our 1st also.

This is where I purchased mine.

Maybe try elevating your pelvis for 30-40 minutes after intercourse. I know this has been called an old wives' tale but my husband and I miscarried right after we got married and I did it and TADAH we got pregnant again almost immediately.

Hi A.,

Check with your doctor. it sounds like your cycle may be a little irregular. You may not even be ovulating. check with your doctor. I was never that regular and I had to do clomid 50 mg--which worked both times for us the first go around. dont worry, your chances for multiples arent that high--i only have two kids and have taken clomid twice!! Good Luck!!!!

I agree, unless you are over the age of 35 a doctor will not do something until you've been trying for 12 months or longer. Also, 6 months is not a long time. Statistically speaking, it takes an average healthy person between 9-12 months of concieving, as there is only a 30% chance of any woman getting pregnant anyway.

Your cycle changing a few days isn't a huge deal, either, esp as you get older.

Keep recording your charts, get plenty of exercize, sleep and hydration, and make sure you are not using lubricants that are not water-based when you have sex.

Hang in there!

I wouldn't get concerned just yet if it were me. If your cycle is lengthening, that means you have enough progesterone, which aides helps one to get pregnant and to sustain the pregnancy. It also means your ovulation time is later, so you need to account for this, and watch for egg white stringy mucous to denote ovulation time. Hope this helps!

Hi A..

We are trying to get preggo with #2 also. After 5 months and much advice about this topic and ovulation testers, I went with the Clear BLue Easy digital ovulation monitor. It was pricey, but worth it (and they have come down in price over the last few months)It is a pretty imprssive little gadget and I learned that I am ovulation 2 days later than I thought with charting and such. ( I can't report sucess yet....5 more days to go for a test....fingers crossed) but I am happy with my little bionic ovulation machine.

I bought mine at Biousa.com, found it on Froogle.com (price search site) after a search and bought the one that came with the pack of strips....buy 2 boxes to be prepared! You have to start the monitor by day 5 of your cycle...so pay overnight shipping if you have to. I wasn't aware of that and had to wait a whole cycle! Torture...ha ha. It came highly recomended when I asked about it on this sight and I just love the little thing...possibly a false sense of security....but it is definately better than the pee strips. Check it out and good luck!
