this may be kind of a stupid question but im going to ask it anyway out of my first-time-mommy-neuroticness.. my 2month old daughter shouldve had her bath today but i was questioning myself all day if it was too cold.. yesterday was the first day it was freezing around here so obviously our heat hadnt been on since last year, my mom was going to turn it on but my dad said wait til he got a new filter for it.. hes going tomorrow after work .. the thermostat is my living room says its 62 degrees in the house.. iv been in sweats all day with my fuzzy slippers .. im afraid if i give her a bath il freez her little butt off lol.. i could just wait til tomorrow and hope my dad remember to get the filter on his way home from work.. she was actually supposed to have a bath yesterday but we had family over all day and she was exhausted when they left and went to bed earlyer than normal (she gets a bath every 2 days) aaaannnywayy .. is 62 too cold or am i just a litte nuts lol?

What can I do next?

Key is to warm the bathroom. Run the hot water via the shower and let the bathroom steam up a bit. Get all you need for her, towel, clothing, blanket, everything. Once steamy and warm, get in there, lock the door and give her her bath quickly. Dry her off and dress her in the warmth of the bathroom. When you come out of there, she will be bathed and bundled and won't feel the cold going on in the house.

I think she'll be fine. Just don't keep her in the bath too long and quickly wrap her up in a towel and put on her jammies. She'll warm up just fine. At 2 months they get a chill when you change their diaper, so honestly, it's fine!

At 62 deg, I'd definitely hold off, but if you have a little space heater, you could get that running in a bathroom with the door shut to warm it up in there, then do the bath! We always use a space heater in the winter during bath time, and my kids are 3 1/2 yr and 15 months!

I bathed my kids all through the winter when they were babies, but we didn't keep the heat that low. I think you need to keep the house warmer for the newborn baby, whether she is being bathed or not.

At 62 degrees, I wouldn't take a bath myself unless I was in a hot tub.
You can give her a sponge bath and only expose one portion at a time, then cover it up once that area is clean.
If you can wrap her up in a big towel slightly warm from the dryer, it'll be easy to keep her warm while you wash one area at a time.

It won't hurt for her to go without a bath for several days. I'd just wait until the heat is on. You could warm up the bathroom to give her a bath but why go to that trouble. I'd just wait.

It's too cold. She doesn't really need a bath. What has she done to get dirtly?

It wouldn't hurt to just do a sponge bath and keep her covered as much as possible during that. Then get the house warmer before you both freeze to death. :-)

I'd bathe her. Do you have a portable heater? I think you can get one from Walmart for $30. They are really nice to have and it will warm up the bathroom even when the heat is on. I am a freak when it comes to baths & kids. I bathe mine too often, in the morning and night. They don't have dry skin or anything. I like to go to bed clean and wake up, I need a shower to do so.

I'd wait until the heat is fixed. If it's not fixed by tomorrow, you might have to just get the bathroom all warm and steamy. Undress her in there, bathe her, then dress her in warm jammies all while in the bathroom so she doesn't get a chill. The bathroom can get quite warm when it's all steamed up. I know this from the many times I've had to sit in there steaming my middle child when he's had the croup.

Steam the bathroom up and have her take a shower with you then hand her off to your husband to dry and dress.

If she needs a bath... Just pop her in WARM water. The time shell be cold (in between water a d towel) is, like, 3seconds? If that? Baths are actually used to WARM UP when it's cold out.

Now... If you're talking about the half cup of water her bum sits in, yeah. That would be cold. And doesn't get babies clean, anyway. If you're talking about a real bath... Have at.

I'd also wait until the heat is on. 62 degrees is awfully cold for a newborn - make sure you keep her well dressed and a hat on.
2 month olds don't really get that dirty... you can wipe her clean with a warm washcloth while changing her if you feel she really NEEDS it. Keep her half dressed to prevent her from getting too cold (e.g. keep her bottoms on to wipe her top, then put her shirt on and wipe her bottom).
Good luck.
