What type of thermometer do you use? I have an 8 month old son and have already gone through 2 digital ones that I don't care for. I feel as though I am not getting a very acurate reading and was wondering if there was a favorite among other parents. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We use the exergen also. If it's really high, then we do a rectal to confirm. The few times we've had to do that, they've been really close.

LOVE the temporal thermometer. We used an ear thermometer for years and it was not very accurate. When it died I bought a temporal thermometer and love it. One day I checked it against an oral thermometer and it was the same.

I bought an Exergen from Walmart after years of fighting with my kids trying to get them to keep a regular digital thermometer either under their tongue or in their armpit. I was under the impression that the Exergens would be too expensive, but I found one on sale at CVS and used my Extracare bucks and got a deal. LOVE IT!!! Super quick and accurate.

We went from a rectal thermometer to an armpit thermometer to a ear thermometer. We stuck with the ear thermometer. My son hates getting his temperature checked and the ear thermomer only takes a second. Plus it gives accurate readings and I can take his temp when hes sleeping.

I agree with the Exergen thermometer. I like it because I can check their temps really easily while they are asleep. Well worth the extra money spent.

We use the Exergen temporal thermometer. The ear ones are not accurate if the child has an ear infection. I got mine after I saw that it was what they used at the children's hospital. They are under $40 at Sam's Club.

I think I am the only person in the world who hates the Exergen Thermometer.
I think it's worthless-very hard to get an accurate reading. Take the temp. twice and you get 2 totally different readings. :(

I use a Safety 1st rectal thermometer till my kids fight me on it (still using it on my 15 mth. old). It works great-through 2 kids!

I have a Vicks w/ a red, yellow, green face to alert the degree of temp. for my 5 yr. old. I like it. But the battery died and I can't find a replacement.

HTH!
