I have decided to go back to school online. I have researched a few different schools and have it narrowed down to the cost of both schools. How much did it cost you per year or credit to obtain your online degree?

I am leaning towards going to Central Michigan University which $355 a credit hour..OMGoodness had no idea because I have been out of the cost of schooling loop! Is that the standard?

Thanks for sharing.

What can I do next?

I am going to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh online it is costing me 457/credit hour .. plus you have to figure in book costs and lab fees i would love 355/credit hour.. you also need to check if college is accredited and the credits are transferable if you change college and how many credits your degree needs. I have been in college since 2009

Community College in our area is apx 110 per credit, or $550 per 5cr class, or 1,600 per 3 5cr quarter, or 4800 per year.

University of Washington, otoh, is (if I'm doing my math right) is 230 per credit. ((10,346 per year, apx $3500 per quarter, 3 5cr classes per quarter))

Seattle University (private, not state) is almost 3x as much as the UW, as is the Art Insititute.

My cousin's EVIL school (anyone in Maine do NOT send your daughters to Bates) is 4x going on 5x that.

School costs REALLY vary between each other.

Hands down, however, community colleges cost a fraction of universities. Which is the main reason why so many people attend and transfer after 2 years... to save $10-40k.

If you do a traditional online university like U of Phoenix, it's exorbitant. What they dont tell you is most community colleges offer all the basics online - ours are like $65 a credit hour if you live in district.PLUS you get to use the workout facilities. My university had degree plans you could do completley online, if you wanted. But you still had use of all the facilities, librabry, gym, etc. It was about 20 min from home, so worth the drive. Mine was probably $100 per credit hour.
