Teeth and Teething

My 13 month old daughter only has 2 bottom teeth and I'm starting to worry. She has been teething pretty badly since she was 4 months old and finally, at 10 months, she got her two bottom teeth but then nothing for over 3 months. Should I be worried? I see other 10-15 month old children with mouths full of teeth!!

What can I do next?

My daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 13 months old... don't worry about it... they all came in and she has beautiful teeth.

It's annoying but nothing to worry about! Both my kids are slow teethers! My son is the worst! At 12 months he had 12 teeth. He is now 15 months and literally in the last two weeks he has gotten 5 or 6 teeth I think. Every day it's more pain and drool! They will come in, I know you'd like them to come in sooner and just be done with it, that's how I feel, but sometimes you just have to wait. Hang in there! Oh and my neighbor's son had 6 teeth by 5 months, no joke, I was so jealous! ;)

There's a lot of variation with teeth. My son got two bottom teeth together at around seven months and then didn't cut any more until 11 months (when two came through the same evening -- and we were on vacation after a 12-hour drive and both desperately needed to sleep)! My mom said my brother didn't have a tooth in his head until he was 14 months old -- and then cut every one of them in three weeks -- my mom and dad literally spent three weeks where one or the other of them was constantly walking the floor with a screaming baby day or night!

I asked my doctor that very question and he told me that anywhere between 4 months and 14 months was completely NORMAL to get a FIRST TOOTH. Good ammo for me to use with my grandmother everytime she'd ask, "so when is little XXX going to get her first tooth??"

Sounds like she's normal!!!@ lol Think of the extra protection her teeth will have from cavities!

My son got his teeth pretty quick, but my daughter's are taking forever! She didn't have any teeth by 13 months; I took her to the ped and they said if she didn't get any in the next couple weeks they were going to "do something about it" (probably meaning lance her gums)... Fortunately, the bottom two popped in that week! She just had those two for about 4 months, then the top two showed up. She's 18 months old now and has 5 teeth, and I think the 6th is ready to come through any day now. But she seems happy and they're not causing her pain or anything, so I don't worry about it too much. It's just irritating b/c she can't eat a lot of crunchy foods or anything.

I totally understand! And I don't think there's anything to worry about. My son is 11 months with just his lower 2 bottom teeth and just started to show his 2 top teeth...but no other teeth are sprouting yet. I think each child develops differently so when you see some babies your daughters age with lots of teeth, that's just their teething schedule. Your daughter will have lots of teeth soon enough so enjoy the gumminess of it all before it's gone:) I love the gummy smiles with so few teeth...so cute!

You can also call your pediatrician and ask. But I think it's normal and nothing to be too concerned about:)

None of my brother's 3 daughters had any teeth before their first birthday.
