I have just got a job at walmart working 3rd shift which if from 10pm to 7am. It will not be a problem right now because I can drop everyone off at school and daycare then come home and go to sleep or school(trying to get a degree in psychology with a major in family law). With summer around the corner I realize that I have a slight problem. My girls will still be able to go to daycare but what do I do with the other 2? Austin(10) is not a problem because he is older and can take care of himself to a reasonable point, however, Nicholas(3) is not the same. If I let him, he would be on a sugar kick that he would make willy wonka look like an idiot. I have everything on lockdown when he is here because otherwise, he would have no snacks for school. We are trying to get on our feet again and can't afford a lot of $ to go out of the house. I know alot of these go on a sliding scale and that is fine as i dont want free camps. The way I see it is that I made them and I should be the one to provide for them in all aspects of his life and care and not the tax payers. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of who I could contact about summer programs for the boys? I have spent a lot of time on the internet and normally I can find almost everything on my own but I have never tried to find any information of the camps before. Has anyone used a sleep over camp and if so how old where your kids and how where your kids when you got them back and would you do it again? what about for the smaller ones?

You are a wonderful group and always seem to have great advice so I would LOVE any help or advice that you would be able to offer!!

What can I do next?

Check some of the papers, there's usually lots of day camps listed and you can always call and ask about special pricing, ages etc. You should also check some of the churches, a lot of them hold day camps. As for over night camps I have no clue. I have looked into it a little because eventually I would like my kids to try one, but I haven't really found any advertised here.

One of the church organizations my church is attached to has week long over night camps but the only one that includes little ones are meant for the whole family to go.

Dear B. H,

My kids went to a camp in coconut creek called Eagles Landing. It's at their school North Broward Prepatory. I know Austin would be able to go but honestly I'm not sure the youngers ones can. Call them and ask. My kids loved the camp and staff.

It's a day camp plus a sleepover camp for the older campers.

If you need anymore ideas e-mail me back at ____@____.com

Sincerely,

G. H.

If you are in the Brevard area get yourself a copy of the SpaceCoast parent magazine. I get mine from blockbusters it is all about camps this month.

Have you contacted your local YMCA? Or maybe something with your city. I know the YMCA offers financial assistance and the city programs are pretty reasonable.

Hope this help

Community action in melbourne gets funds for lower income families for summer camp. I think if your under a certain income they give you a certain amount of money and you pay the rest. I was offered it last year but it seems a lot of the camps are for older kids. A lot of the daycare centers also offer summercamps. I know right here all the daycares do. Good luck hope this helps some.

I know that both my kids always bring home papers from school towards the end of the school year, and maybe the ymca or early childhood committee for your area maybe able to refer you to some places in your area. Good Luck!!!
