Stinky Dishwasher - Lone Tree,IA

We have a portable dishwasher. My youngest child pushed the start button after I had washed a load of dishes and after I had disconnected the water. The dishwasher heated up and now has a burn odor. I already ran it empty with vinegar and there is still a stench. Do you have any recommendations on how to get rid of the smell? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Try Lemon Juice.

The other thing is the dishwasher cleaner - you put in your washer without anything else in it? Comes out sparkling clean and smelling fresh.

Good luck!

I'd have it looked at by a dishwasher repair person - if anything in the motor got burned out, that's not good. If the racks are coated, there could be a problem with that rubber coating or some of the gaskets inside - that stuff stinks and can even be hazardous if you're breathing it. Double check with a professional.

My ex an I used to run bingo and he got the brilliant idea to take the ash trays home and run them through the dishwasher.

Yeah

Talk about the smell of smoke on your dishes. I just kept running the thing over and over and over....not sure how many times until it wasn't completely disgusting. It was at least six months before the smell was completely gone.

Maybe not the same thing but close?

Put 1 tablespoon of Borax and 1 tablespoon of Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda in the soap dispenser, and fill the rinse aid dispenser with white vinegar. Run as usual.
