We have a small pool that we put up and take down once season is over. We use chlorine free shock, algeacide, and some other stuff called pool perfect which breaks down all the gung so you can clean pool. Just ordered a hoseless vacuum for the bottom. I am looking for advice on how to maintain..we don't use the testing strips because we don't use chlorine...We have been shocking about once a week along with the algeacide. then the other stuff is as needed depending on conditions. I think our problem is that we have not been able to vacuum as often (6 wk and 2 yr old at home). I am hoping the hoseless vacuum will help but thought if anyone had advice for me I would love to hear it. Water is not stinky but cannot get it to be crystal clear. Pool is about 2500 gallons and we did upgrade our pump so it filters better which did help a ton..now it is operator error. :(

What can I do next?

We just had our (in ground) pool re-plastered this weekend, and I had to go in to Leslie's pool supply to pick up a wall brush among other things. Anyway, I noticed that they had a sign there that said that you could bring in a sample of your water, which they will analyze and then they'll tell you exactly what chemicals you need to add in order to get your pool water clear again. Apparently if it doesn't work, they will refund the cost of your chemicals! So, if there's a Leslie's near you, you might want to try them. At least that takes the guess-work out of it. :) Good luck!

We have an 18x48 intex. I asked for help recently on here. I got a lot of good responses. It took a ton of work to get it back to crystal clear. We are just about there, thank god :) We had to shock, vacuum and scrub the liner just about once a day. Well, not we.... my husband was a life saver. There is no way i could have done all of that. He got in each day for an hour with goggles and a scuba/snorkel thingy....ugh! Hope you get your crystal clear water back... a cloudy pool is just not the same.

The more you use your pool the cleaner it will be. At least that's what my grandpa always told us.

Check the pH. If your pH is off it will be cloudy. Use the test strips anyway, they do not just test for chlorine. Ours tests for about 6 or 7 different chemicals. pH, alkalinity, bromine, chlorine, I guess it gives a couple chlorine readings.

If you are real low on pH then you need to add pH plus, real high get some pH minus, it really is that simple
We had frogs in our pool in June and it is now crystal clear. All we did was shock, and shock, and pH plus, and pH plus, alkalinity and shock and shock. It's 18' round 48" deep.
