Does anyone have any good products or advice for taking care of my face? I am constantly battling blocked pores on my chin and nose. Mostly whiteheads (not to sound gross) that are small and not too noticeable, but I can see them when I look up close. I am currently using a facial cleanser and moisturizers by Burt's Bees. I thought I'd try them out to see if they would help -- I figured they were more 'natural' and might lead to less clogging -- but I really haven't seen any changes. I was once told at a facial that this was caused by eating too much dairy, but I don't really eat that much dairy anymore. Any good ideas?

Wally World (Wal-Mart) has thier own brand (Equate) of the St Ives facial skin care line...get the MEDICATED Apricot Scrub! It is wonderful!!! even my bf uses it and LOVES IT! he notices before i do that we're running low! you can get the St Ives if you want but its all the same product for less $$$...OH! and any time you're looking for 'skin clearing' produts, always get the one that has Salacylic Acid in it....its the best, not the Benzyol Peroxide stuff, that stuff doesnt work!!

Good Luck!

I use and apricot facial scrub (Freeman PH Beauty Juicy juice brand) and then I put Aveda's hydrating masque on but I do not wash it off. It is a clear gel and can be left on as a moisturizer. I have been doing this for years and always get compliments on how young my skin looks.

Burt's Bees does wonders for me -- their peppermint soap isn't necessarily facial soap, but it does the job and is very gentle. Love the stuff. Actually, I love most of their products.

You may need to change your skin care products. Burt's Bees is all-natural, but that doesn't make it the right product to use on your face. It may be too oily or moisturizing. Try Aveno's line of skin care for oily/acne skin instead (the boxes are a light green color). A more expensive line that might help is Murad which is sold at Sephora. However, there is a clay mask that costs under $4 from Queen Helene - it is a tube of her mint face mask. I've been treating myself for years with this product (once per week), and I have had great results! Oh, anything with beta-hydroxide (also known as salicylic acid) would help. If you can't find a beta-hydroxide product that you can afford, alpha-hydroxies are almost as helpful, too.

Yes - I do sell Mary Kay, but that is because it is the best product around. That is why it is the #1 Best Selling Skin Care Product in America for the past 8 or more years. I have been with Mary Kay for almost 8 years now.

In addition to a cleanser and an oil free moisturizer, you will want to add a mask. What mask would depend on your skin type. Using a mask will help draw out the dirt and oils that are trapped in the poors. This is not something you need to do daily - just twice a week. Once things are cleaning up, you can cut that down to once a week or so.

You can check out my web site at www.marykay.com/pbuhrman

Do you exfoliate? You can try just making a paste of baking soda and water. Put a little on your finger tips and gently rub all over your face (keep away from your eyes, of course). It's very inexpensive and baking soda is good for MANY different things. Rinse your face with water and your should feel silky soft after. B.soda is abbrasive and will help remove dead skin and clean your pores. You might want to use it every other day. Just play it by ear. Be sure to use a moisturizer afterwards that will not clog your pores. I hope that's helpful. :)

Hi A.,

I'm not sure what all you have tried but I may be able to help if you're interested. I used to have the same type of problem with acne. I had tried what seemed like everything and just was never satisfied with the results. I started selling Mary Kay and after using the Velocity skin care (typically for teens) with the acne gel my skin looks great. A mask will help clean out the pores as well as microderm abrasion (once or twice a week). Let me know if you're interested and I can send you some samples and see if you see a difference.

Best of luck!

Daisy Blue Naturals has created body and home products from natural, wholesome ingredients. Terrific proponents like grape seed oil, sweet almond oil, shea butter, and oatmeal combine to make an outstanding product! Hi A.,

I don't know your age, but in addition to making your skin less prone to breakouts, are you interested in making your skin healthier, too? I have stumbled across the most amazing company and have been using their skin care products for about 6 months now. I love the way my skin looks and feels, and I am so excited to share this info with you! It is from a company called Shaklee, the #1 Natural Nutrition Company in the U.S. - they have over 50 years of science behind all of their products! They have several fabulous product lines, and were featured on Oprah 5 times in 2007, on Good Morning America, in Time Magazine, Women's First Magazine, and many other places! I recommend you start with the basic Enfuselle products for your skin - specifically the Cleansing Gel, Toner, and Moisturizer. Go to: www.shaklee.net/fitzwater to order securely online, and if you'd like to learn more about this wonderful company go to www.theglobalsuccessteam.net and click on product information to watch the videos on Shaklee products - specifically #4 & #20 on the Enfuselle skin care products. My dermatologist says you only need a GOOD cleanser and moisturizer (I think she would like me to purchase the products that are sold at her office!) but I would suggest Arbonne products. Because I am older, I use the NutriminC RE9 line. It isn't awailable in stores, is a bit pricey but works for me and lasts for awhile. Hi A.. I always have had problems with my skin...not really bad, but enough to keep trying new products trying to find the right one. I finally bit the bullet and spent the money on Arbonne and liked it alright, but not enough to place a reorder. Then a friend of mine introduced me to Timeless Prescription and I LOVE it! I love it so much that I joined the business, so now whenever I hear a friend complaining about her skin, I can tell her about it.

I use their anti-aging essentials line, but they also have a 3-step acne care system that's about $69 and really is the best out there. You can call me if you want to know more about it ###-###-#### or you can just go to my website.

Hello A.,
So, you are looking for a quality skin care line that will clear up your skin and/or some advice on taking care of your skin. The first thing I tell anyone I talk to about health is that your skin is a direct reflection on what's going on inside your body. The second thing is that there is a science based company out there that can help with your skin care needs. They manufacture the FIRST and ONLY patented skin care line that is self-preserving. Why is that important? Because they have found a way to take out the parabens (preservatives) and have replaced them with nutrients. It's not a cosmetic line, it's a skin health line. Go to www.usana.com and read about the Sense skin care. Enjoy!

Yours in health,

Hi A.!

You sure have gotten alot of responses to your request but I'm going to add one more line that I just stumbled upon and wish I did a long time ago. As a licensed Esthetician I am always concerned about my skin and it seems like so many of these lines contain all kinds of toxins that are actually harmful. I came across a line by the name of Mychelle Dermaceuticals. I ordered a sample pack and fell in love instantly! They are organic, fruit derived products that are paraben free and cruelty free. Their website is www.mychelleusa.com. There are products for all skin types and I found that some of the products are sold at a health food market called "Mustard Seed". There's one in Solon if that's close to you. Otherwise, order right online.
Hope you find this helpful!

I have had combination skin and acne since I was 10. I have tried everything, including Burt's Bees. The only thing that has worked for me has been Proactiv. It is on the pricey side, but worth it in my opinion. Give yourself 6 weeks of using it religiously before you decide if it's working for you. The skin on my face is softer, more even, and breakouts are much fewer.

I am sure you will get a lot of responses from consultants for various products on this request. I will add my name/product to the list. I sell L'Bri Pure and Natural. It is aloe based skin care that has no soaps, dyes, or waxes. Instead of water being the first ingredient like most products, aloe is the first in L'Bri. I can certainly send you a care package of samples that will let you try it for about a week. Whatever you try you should do it more than once unless it is an immediate horrible reaction. You can check the product line out at www.juliericks.lbri.com and see what you think. If you want more information let me know. Good luck!

I was having the same kind of problems on my face, neck, decolette. I was using Burt's Bees at the time, isn't that funny! And I always loved Burt's Bees. with was happening off and on for about 2 years and I tried eliminating products and not using anything, to see if I was having an allergic reaction. All to no avail, I was at my wits end.

At a meeting I ran into a lady who sells Shaklee products. They have a skin care line, Enfuselle, which I tried and love. Everything cleared up and has been fine ever since. And that was 1 1/2 years ago, so I'm very happy. I loved what it did for my skin so much I decided to add Shaklee products to my massage business. You can look at the products at http://www.shaklee.net/massageconnection/product/Advanced... and there's an Acne Clarifying Complex too.

What I really liked too, is that it's 100% money back guaranteed. So I was comfortable with spending the money and giving the products a chance. If I didn't think it helped or didn't like them, I could return the opened and used products for a full refund of the product.
Here's the product catalog link-
http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/shaklee/2008_productguide...#

Also, I do try to reduce stress with exercise, yoga, things that can be incorporated with your age children - they love it, they think it's fun.

Also, doing a facial steam at home will help draw impurities out of your skin. The Village Herb Shop in Chagrin Falls can give you some great info on that.

Hope this helps. And have a wonderful weekend!

Hi, A.. I have the same skin problems, and have really found that simple things are the best. Use a plain, clear face cleanser like Purpose (you can get it anywhere and it's inexpensive). I like this because it doesn't have any extra chemicals or exfoliants in it. Also, it is important to exfoliate every few days. I use 2 plain round aspirin. Do this in the shower. Put the 2 aspirin in the palm of your hand, and wet with a few drops of water. Rub to make a paste. Then rub it in all over your face, leave for a minute and then rinse off. It's easy and cheap. Plus, the aspirin has salicylic acid in it, the same stuff that's in a lot of face cleaners and acne treatments. Also, make sure to use the right kind of moisturizer for your skin type every day. You may have to play around with them to find one you like, but remember to keep it simple. Good luck!!

ProActiv - like the stuff you see on TV is AMAZING! They lower their prices all the time and it works wonders. :) The only problem is once you buy it, you are locked into purchasing it every month as part of your membership, so if you want to just try a kit for a month to see if it works for you - I'd recommend eBay, they sell a lot of it on there for cheap. It does take 2 weeks to finally start working, but be patient - it will pay off! :) Hope this helps!
