Shade of Pregnancy Test

Hi
I could be completely paranoid but here goes....I took a test on Friday (actually two) and they both came out faintly positive. I know that it doesn't matter how dark the line is so I know I am pregnant. Today I took another test (crazy I know) and it didn't get any darker then on Friday, four days ago, but there was a line. Is this something to be worried about? My last pregnancy I had a blood test so I guess I wasn't as worried but I am so worried this time. I don't have any symptoms of miscarriage. I don't have any real pregnancy symptoms either but I didn't last time until about 6 weeks. Any feedback would be great. I don't go to the doctor until next week at the 6 week mark. I hate the first 12 weeks!!!! Thank you!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much. This site is such a life saver. I talked with a friend who is actually a scientist and does a lot in the medical field and she explained HPTs and HCG etc. She said as long as I am not spotting I should not worry. Thank you so much for making me feel better. During the first 12 weeks you go through the roller coaster of being super worried and super excited about the pregnancy. Right now I am super excited, thank you!!

Not all tests are the same- did you use a different brand? They test for varying levels of HcG. If you used a more sensitive one the first time that would account for the varying result. Second, what time of day did you test? First morning urine is more concentrated so it is more likely to get a positive result. If you tested at a different time of day each time that will make a difference. With both of my kids I tested negative until about a week after I expected my period and I had totally easy, healthy, normal pregnancies. Above all a positive is a positive, so most likely things are just fine. Good luck.

Hi J., You are right! You are definitaley pregnant, if there was even a faint line on the test strip. Horomone levels are usually lower early in the pregnancy. If you tested again in a few weeks, or another month you probably would find a very distinct line. I had wondered the same thing with each of my tests and always had the same result early in the pregnancy. The first time I tested, I called the info number on the test product and they gave me some very helpful information. Best of luck to you and your new little one!

Mine with my daughter (almost 7 yrs old) was really dark. This time it was really faint. I think they are putting less of the reactor or something in the tests to save money.

Don't worry. I'm pregnant- 17 weeks today- and everything has been fine. :)

Congrats!!!

Same thing happened to me. It all depends on when you test, what brand of test you use and the concentration of the hormones in your urine. My first positive with this pregnancy was so light that my hubby didn't even see the line (my baby sister did, though!). I took at least 5 tests within a week. To prove it to hubby, I bought one of the digital ones and it said "pregnant".

I'd have to wonder how many pregnancy tests are bought and used by women that know they are pregs but just want to see it again and again. Even writing this I want to go get the last digital one I have in the cabinet and use it...and I'm almost 7 months along.

Good luck and congrats!

After a few of the shade/line, I went to the "pregnant"/"not pregnant" ones. I even took it a week later. Yea, it's really hard until you first see the doctor. I would say, based on your last pregnancy and no other symptoms on either account, that you are blessed again. :) Congrats!

I wouldn't worry. They say, a postive line is a positive line no matter what the shade. Mine was light this time and here i am 21 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy with no issue. So i wouldn't worry! I would say Congrats!!!!
