Hi,
I am 7 months pregnant with my first baby and I am looking for a pediatrician that will be open minded about vaccines as I would like to delay some of them and not give others at all to my child. Can anyone recommend a pediatrician in the western suburbs of Chicago that might be open minded about this issue??
Thanks,
S.

Thanks everyone for the responses! They all were very helpful and I think I will call of the pediatricians that you all recommended to set up interviews.

Hi S.,
We just moved to Wheaton from Elgin, but have been using Valley Family Practice in St. Charles for about 2 years now and love them. We specifically see Dr. James Sanders, but I have heard great things about Dr. Callabria there as well (and he is a DO too.) They are family MDs, not specifically peds, so our whole family sees the same dr, which is really awesome for things like strep- they will often prescribe for you since they know your history without having to see each individual family member separately on those occasions.

Hope this helps :)

He is wonderful. Before you have your baby - make an appointment and have a consultation about what you want and don't want. When your baby is born - the peiatrician will be in the next day - so have one selected and be comfortable with him.

ALSO - the nurses will want to take the baby and give them vaccines right after delivery. Make a birthing plan and make sure everyone knows (doctor, nurses) that you do not want to have your baby vaccinated "at this time"
http://www.birthplan.com/create-birth-plan/
"As long as each individual who opposes vaccines has sincere objections, states them in writing, and signs his name - it is considered legal and proper action and must therefore be honored."

If you have someone with you during delivery - have them follow the baby..My first baby they took from me to the nursery and I asked them to let me nurse - no bottles - they gave him a bottle right away and he had a hard to\ime latching on to me. They also vaccinated right away.
The second child they were very adimandt she get the vaccines immediately and I caved...
(Right after, no. 2was born , no. 1 was being tested for autism.)
No. 3 never left my side. He has never received vaccines and is almost 4 and very healthy!
Do your research and make everyone aware of what you want and document it in a birthing plan.
I know you just wanted a dr.'s name but thought I would add the additional info for FYI.

we use Dr. Evolve in Libertyville. He has tons of experience with this but it is far for you but I know you would be impressed with his knowledge.

HI,
Our pediatrician is great about vaccines. She let us delay the MMR vaccine and some others plus there was one we didn't get. She's in Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg, but their practice has other locations as well.

S., interview various peds. & ask about their vaccine philosophy. I actually live in Naperville. My ped. would like me to give my kids every vaccine under the sun. I do my own research, delay some, omit others. My ped. knows my views & is okay with it, though it's annoying each year she asks if the whole family is getting the flu shot & I said "no!" You should interview peds. anyway. We've switched b/4 & my husband would like to switch again, but I'm content w/ ours even though we have different parenting philosophies.
