I am looking for anyone who may know of a program that may help low income families
get a working vehicle. I am in the Addison,Lombard,Villa Park,Elmhurst areas.I personaly
have spent a lot of money on cars that don't last long. I do work part time but like many Americans I live from pay check to pay check. I hardly have money left over for the necessitys of everyday living. I have a fiance that is wonderful, he watches all the kids while I work, while trying to work himself. Unfortunetly he was just laid off a job he's been at for over five years....and who knows when unemployment will kick in...any help would greatly be appreciated!

Hi I just wanted to tell you that your fiance should immediately file online for unemployment benefits. He should get his first check in approximately 3 weeks from the date he filed. The first check will be for one week and then after that he will get a check every 2 weeks that will be for 2 weeks of unemployment. Here is a link to help you plan for how much he will receive:

Good luck!

Check with Saret charitable Fund. They have a office and storefront at Rt 53 and Roosevelt Rd. I used to do volunteer
work with them. They just helped 4 people get donated cars.
Their phone number is ###-###-####, if they can't help you they may be able to refer you to someone that can.

donatecarusa.org is a place for the cars to be donated.
They have a drop down menu of 100-s of organizations that they work with to provide the cars to organizations. Perhaps you can be associated with one of them. Not sure how you go about that, but it is a starting point

When it comes to repairs in the future, the High Schools and Colleges are always looking for vehicles to work on. They do it at a reduced fee and free sometimes.Best of luck to you and your family.

Ask thru your township and your church. You should also be getting food stamps and winter coats and clothing donated to the villages for people in your situation. I've been there, in your shoes. The village pantry will b open to you also. It's not your boyfriends job to support you financially so your township will help. Get yourself set up immediately. Let them know it may only be temporary or short term.
