I have a four year old son and I am looking for a preschool. We are new to this area from Southern Ca. I was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation. I am not starting him in Kindergarten until he is 6. Also looking for a Pediatrician if you know aof a good one. I have a PPO. Thanks for your help!

I highly recommend Angels in Action preschool in Rocklin. Over the past 12 years, I have had at least one child enrolled there. Although the staff changes from time to time (as is true in all preschools) the consistent, caring environment is always wonderfu. I like how the rooms are divided by age group (a little more intimate than other schools)and there is a great balance between indoor/outdoor/academic and non-academic activities.
Hapyp hunting!

The Rockin Mom's Club is hosting its annual Preschool Fair on February 19th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 5425 Coronado Way in Rockin. This is a great way to do some one-stop shopping for local preschools. I know at least 12 local schools will be attending and more have been invited to this great event. Hope you can make it!

Hi K.,
We relocated to Roseville from the bay area about 3 years ago and I was in the same position. I have a 5 year old (and a 2 year old son) son who goes to the Phoenix School on Park Dr. (near Twin Oaks Park) in Rocklin. They also have a facility in Roseville (they didn't have space at the time I was looking). We have been very pleased with their preschool curriculum and I would definitely recommend them.

As for the pediatrician, the best in the area is Rocklin Pediatrics (Dr. Cafarella and Dr. Valdez). They are actually right next door to the Phoenix School which makes appointments extremely easy. Their website is www.rocklinpediatrics.com. I can't say enough about how wonderful they are. And very convenient! Scheduling appointments is very easy and flexible. They always have same day appointments.

This is my first reply on this website as I just recently joined. I just couldn't resist because these are two of my favorite topics.

Hope it helps!
M.

My daughters (4 & 2 years old) go to Kindercare in Rocklin on Sunset Blvd. We've been there since April of last year and really like it. The teachers for the Pre-K classes are wonderful. Also, our doctor is Dr. Kevin Trude at the Sutter Medical Center on the corner of Douglass & East Roseville Parkway ###-###-####). Hope these suggestions help you out! I know what it's like trying to find the best care for your children!

I am a big fan of American Montessori Academy. It's located in older Roseville on Douglass near Trader Joes. I know parents from all over Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, and even Antelope that take their kids there. It is a very friendly and warm environment and it has a lot of good parental involvement.
As far as pediatricians go, I would recommend Dr. Maney from UC Davcis Med Center in Roseville or DR. Day with Sutter in Roseville. I know there are lots of other good ones in the area too, I just don't know them.
Good luck!

I have Kaiser for health care. I really like my daughter's doctor. He is very attentive and actually listens to me when I talk. He's Doctor Benjamin.

I also use to live in SoCal. All over Orange County... Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, and lastly Garden Grove.

My Children attended La Petite Academy and we loved it. They are all over the area, so I am sure there is one in your area. It is a wonderful learning school for all ages. They move from group to group so they don't get bored. My youngest sons main teacher was hispanic so she even taught them alittle spanish and to this day he comments on how cool that was. During their snack and meal times they are taught manners and given task to feel they are special in the process. They are allowed to pout they own drinks, carefully passing and choosing their items. It not just playning and taking naps.

As far as a Pediatrician I have been very pleased with Dr GOGO in Roseville ###-###-#### ( at Douglas & East Roseville Parkway). They also have General Practice there as well and I have been very pleased with Dr. Febbo-Wilson as my doctor.
Good Luck

Roseville Parks and Recreation offers a fantastic program for preschoolers. The teachers are fabulous and the cost is reasonable. They have a two day a week program as well as a three day a week.

My personal favorite is Smart Start, located in Loomis. You can look them up online. I looked at 12 preschools before I came accross this one and fell in love with it. My daughter looks forward to every day and comes home bubbling over with things to say about school.

We have Kaiser- Dr. Jeffery Fisch is a wonderful pediatrician. His office is located off of Sierra Gardens, in Roseville. We like him because he makes time to really listen and also does a great job connecting with our daughter.

Good luck!

Although my son is only 1 year old, we take him to ChildTime on Pleasant Grove (and Foothills) in Roseville and I would highly recommend their preschool/kindergarten readiness program. They have a fantastic staff and we have been very pleased with their level of care. If you would like more info let me know.

As for a pediatrician, I'm not too pleased with ours so would not recommend him. I am interested to hear who others are going to.

Oh, and we moved here from Southern Ca. 2 years ago... from Pasadena to Roseville.

I would highly recommend our doctors, Dr. Khaira and Dr. Avala at Roseville Pediatrics. We have been going there since my 4 year old was born, and have always been impressed with the level of care and how thorough they are. In addition, they have always been prompt getting back to us when we have had after hours issues that needed addressing. As far as preschool goes, my son goes through our local parks and rec in Orangevale, and it is a parent participation school. We have been very happy with the school and program, since it focuses on social skills for the 3-4's and is not completely academic focused. You should see if Rocklin or Roseville has a similar program.

We have Blue Cross, HMO. Our pediatrician is Dr. Terrance Chang. He is on Sierra College/Douglas Blvd. He and his NP, Nancy are fantastic. The whole staff is wonderful. They know me and my children by name and it is so welcoming and friendly to be greeted that way. He is also an allergy/asthma specialist. They don't force their medical opinions and allow me the freedom choose what I want for my kids, giving me alternatives other than simply writing a prescription to treat them. ###-###-####
