I am interested in finding a new moms group in the Lincoln Square area. I have a 6 week old daughter and none of my friends have kids, so I'm looking to meet other new moms. I need people to talk to that are going through the same thing as me! :)

What can I do next?

Try Meetup. There is one for moms in the city. I was more active with my first child but met ALL of my current friends through this site.

Hi M.. Please let me know if you find a new moms group. I live in Lakeview/Roscoe Village. I too have a 6 week old daughter and would love to meet moms with babies around the same age.

M.,

Try joining Northside Parents Network (just Google them), they've got playgroups in your area.

Congrats on your baby!

go to meetup.com and look up lincoln logs playgroup and chicago sahm. join this friday at 10am at julius meinel and then walk to welles park. the moms are nice and there are some new moms as well. good luck! And don't pressure yourself - you'll meet lots of moms in this neighborhood before long. it'll only get better and easier.

I would also recommend becoming part of a NPN new moms group. My daughter is 18 months old and I still get together with those moms 1x per week. They match you with moms with kids at the same age. You do have to pay to become a member, but it was well worth it!

Lauren Goffen is a social worker and runs a group in Ravenswood. Her number is ###-###-####. I'm a colleague of hers. Please tell her J. V. referred you.

Hi M.- I live in Ravenswood and we are a part of the Little Lincoln Logs, a group through meetup.com for mom's in the Lincoln Square area. You have to live in the area and pay a $2 annual dues (you can do it through paypal). I haven't been able to make it to a lot lately but there is always stuff going on and even if it is for you more than your daughter, it is fantastic. It helped me out so much to get out and do stuff, more for me than anything, when my son was your daughter's age. It is really a great group. I also am on the Stay at Home mom's group there but they do much larger group meetups and I prefer smaller groups, like storytime at Little Green Baby, the Lincoln Square Farmer's Market and parks nearby (Welles and Winnemac). Hope this helps!
