Hi, I am looking for a Mommy & Me class in the San Fernando Valley that doesn't 'break the bank'! I have a 2 month old boy and I am not working...looking for other Mommies in the same boat. Thanks! Kelly

Try the San Fernando Valley Moms Meetup Group. They are a bunch of moms in the valley and plan fun activities every day. After you join online, they send you e-mails every day of fun things they are doing and usually the cost of the outing too. Good Luck.

i belong to this group and it is fantastic! most of the things we do are free or very low cost and we have a great variety of activities and great moms (and dads) and babies!

it's not a class, but it's a meetup.

check it out. :)

Mothersong in Eagle Rock at the American Legion Center is great! My husband takes my daughter every Tuesday, it is from 10-11am and $5 suggested donation . It is music and dance with a live guitar.

You can join the Valley Mom Fit Club on meetup.com! It's a FREE group open to new & expectant moms in the area. They meet every Tuesday at 10:30a at Lake Balboa. Let by a Certified Personal Trainer who is expecting as well, the moms & babies warm up together, walk around the lake, workout in a circuit style and stretch at the end. It's a great way to share some time with your little one as well as relate to other moms in the area!

not sure how far into the valley you are or how far you want to travel, but the Burbank Parent Education program is AWESOME and its not terribly expensive (about $100 for a 16 week semester). Its held at the Burbank Adult School which is near the border of Burbank and North Hollywood. http://burbankparented.org/ classes are on break for the summer and start up again August 24th.

S.,

Most of the colleges (Glendale community, Pasadena) offer free Parent Education classes aka 'Mommy and Me'. Give them a call and maybe you could get started with the fall season. Good luck!

I am part of a mommy and me minnow swimming class. It is for ages 6 months to 2 1/2 years. It is a 30 minute class, amazing instructors (K. and Emily). It is at Emily's residence in a warm salt water pool. Groups of 3 or more are $250 for 10 lessons. So fun!

We sing songs, learn water safety, which I think is the most important, learn to blow bubbles, do submersions, do paddles, and get your child comfortable in the water. Minor crying in the beginning and then it gets fun.

She has a routine so the kids know what to expect in the water and any fear subsides very quickly. It's relaxing and gets your child comfortable in the water sooner rather than later... and believe me, later is no fun!

The Water Whisperer... it's fab!

The Los Angeles Valley College Family Resource Center also hosts several free "Mommy and Me" style programs for community members. The sessions are supervised by Child Development faculty members who are terrific resources for all of your parenting questions/concerns. They have new sessions starting in January and can be reached at ###-###-####. Did I mention that the play sessions were FREE!

If it's not too far for you, try the Burbank Adult School's Parent Ed class. I highly recommend it for mommy and baby.

I don't know much about Mommy & Me groups but I live in Toluca Lake and am in the same boat...home with a 4 month old baby boy. Let's face it, it can get boring sometimes. I'm finding it hard to meet other mothers in my area so if you ever want to get together or you find a group you like, I'd love to know about it.
