Hi Moms. This has been an excellent source in the past, so here goes.. I am due with our 2nd child in November. We are hoping to have a Vasectomy done on my DH this Dec while our insurance deductibles etc are met. Does anyone have the name of a great urologist? Or any other advice on their experience with this procedure? Thanks in advance for your time.

What can I do next?

My husband used Dr. Nickel and was pleased with him and his staff. He is in the Sharpstown area. He had very little discomfort the day of the procedure --just used the ice bag and Tylenol-- and no prolems in the 5 years since. One word of advice though, do carefully follow the after care instructions. My husband talked to lots of guys and they all said it was a grenerally positive expeirence except one who did some heavy lifting right after the procedure and was very very sorry.

my husband just had this done. He saw a doctor in katy, i'll get back to you with the name he said he was great.
Of course the procedure part wasn't all that great my husband did well though he was a trooper. Just tell your hubby to bring a cold towel and make sure he turns the fan on if he sees my husbands doctor in every room there is a fan because so many guys faint. Such Weenies I tell ya! ha

Dr. Charles Sitomer is who performed my husband's procedure. He is a pioneer in the field of vasectomies and an excellennt doctor. He developed the one snip procedure. He has two offices, one in Katy and the other in the Long Point area. I highly recomend him, but better yet - so does my husband!

In the Medical Center, Larry Lipshultz , M.D. has a great reputation. His son in law is Michael Lewitton, M.D. also in the medical center....Both highly reputable physicians and extremely nice.

Michael is younger...dad to three little boys. Extremely nice..great family.

L.,
My husband had his vasectomy performed by Dr. Andrew Selzman @ Memorial City Hermann. (915 Gessner, Suite 720. Phone: ###-###-####.) I went to the appointment with my husband and Dr. Selzman even let me watch the procedure. It was amazing. You would be amazed to know what an incredibly simple procedure it is. The "no scalpel" method he uses meant no stitches and no bleeding. The whole thing took about 15 minutes. Dr. Selzman chatted and explained to me what was going on and made a few jokes along the way. I left thinking to myself it is a shame he didn't become an OB/Gyn instead! My husband had only very mild swelling that lasted a day or 2 and he checked out clear at the follow-up visits. He sat around the afternoon of the procedure, but he was back to his old self the next day. And no negative changes either as a result of "being cut" - everything about his performance, sensations and "staying power" is the same as before. We highly recommend Dr. Selzman!

my husband had one... in and out in 20 minutes, and just a co-pay!! of course, there are the few days afterward that are spent lying on the couch with an ice bag on the crotch. i tried so hard not to laugh!

his doc was in austin, but we got the referral from the gp.

it really is easy, and he was nice enough to realize after observing 2 natural childbirths that it was his turn. and, if you change your mind, the procedure is usually reversable.

take care!
