this is more like a tip kind of thing. well anyway i have two daughters who go through a lot of ponytails holders and just end up throwing the white ones away when they turn gray or look too dirty. well this was costing me money, so i started taking the white ponytail holders and soaking them in clorox with a little laundry detergent. well after a day of soaking them i would rinse them out and whala new ponytail holders. which is a lot cheaper than replacing them has anybody seen the cost for a few of these things lately? as for the colored ones that have a lot of hair buld up from use i cut the hair off so that they dont look so ratty when my girls are wearing them..

So What Happened?

thank u all for responding to my tip of saving money. they are much appreciated. i will try to wash them w/o the clorox from now on.maybe just throw then in a little mesh bag with the laundry. see i'm on a small budget and yes i;ve gotten those mutipacks for my daughter and its like they magically disappear along with the socks. i think those two items in particular have a conspiracy going on against moms!!!!!!!lol:) i try too save as much of her pony tails holders and socks as i can, as times are really hard for me now. thanks moms u are great, but remember socks and hair holders have it in for us!!!!!!!

I'd suggest buying a mulitpack of elastics that are mostly dark colours. That way they don't darken or look "ratty."

I don't know about soaking in Clorox. Sorry.

Good luck.

be careful because bleach actually eats the elastic, and then they end up breaking, and u have to toss them out anyways... Have you thought about buying just a multipack of the dark color ones? without any white ones in them?? thats what I do

Great tip. We seem to buy a mega-pack every now and then and I have no idea where they all go. We have a container in the bathroom and one on the kitchen table (ceramic jars the kids made) for collecting them and usually they contain enough to do hair and dash of to school, but where on earth do all these things collect. Somewhere there is a single sock and hair elastic heaven.....

Go to the dollar tree and stock up. They have multipacks. Your other option is to buy a big ball of ribbon and tie the hair back.

another thing to try as they will eventually wear out is to buy only black ones. They do sell them in some of the family dollar stores.
