SAHM, How Do You Generate More Income?

With the birth of my daughter, I decided to be a stay at home mom. I was able to save some money so we can be fine for a while, but it seems like that account is drying up fast. I was doing a side job which allowed me to take my kids to pick up the work, but with the cost of gas it seemed like I wasn't making anything at all. I would love to get your advice on what you do to bring a little money in or what you do to cut expensive. I am really trying not to go back to work and my husband doesn't want to watch the kids by himself if I work nights. He has an exhausting job during the day and the last thing I want him to do and deal with two active kids by himself. I was thinking maybe taking care of children around the same age of my son or older. I would love my son to interact with other kids since he is acting like a baby ever since my daughter was born. Any help you gals give me would be truly appreciated. Thank:)

What can I do next?

Hi Alejandra,
The way my husband and I do it, is that we got rid of our second vehicle. That took the extra expense of gas, insurance, car payments, and maintenance away. That helped a great deal. That would be one way you can save if you have a second vehicle. I hope you find something that works for you. You can also look into refinancing your current vehicle to get a lower pmt if you owe on it. Also, if you own your own home, you can also refinance to a lower interest rate. That will save you money in the long run. EQUITY ONE is a great company that helps out a lot of people in need of some extra cash, or refinancing. We have great luck with them. Best of luck to you. Alejandra,

Hi my name is J. and I am also a stay at home mom. I am a Creative Memories Consultant and this is how I make extra money to do the fun things that we otherwise would not be able to do. I have found great joy in doing this. It is scrapbooking and I have been able to use the products to make books of my two children. I have just started doing this myself, and have had positive feedback from friends and family. You host parties or have other people host parties and you earn 30% of the earnings, and they are always offering all kinds of other incentives throughout the months. Let me know if you would be interested in hosting a party to kind of get a feel for the business.

Just my thoughts.... taking care of other children is a cool thing, but it can create a strange dynamic with your own kids. Plus saddling yourself with being accountable to others is well... like having the job you just left. Heidi & I have a similar arrangement with me working a lot of hours and her being able to stay home.

To generate more income and subsidize my efforts, we have a Quixtar powered company (Maybe you've seen the recent ads?). We love it. If you have 10 minutes, I can explain over the phone and internet --- or we could meet (Couple to couple). I've heard it laid out horribly and I've heard it laid out really well. So keep an open mind to see if it would work for you.

Part II. For socialization, Heidi does playgroups and is active within our church. That way she has the benefit of being social without the accountability thing.

Good luck in what ever you decide.

Kurt

Hello Alejandra,

How do you feel about working for yourself, your own hours, when you want to and make some good money??
And ..it's fun.
There is a fee to start but you make it back on your first party ( I know I was skeptical when I heard that too) .
I started doing it to get out of the house and meet new people
I was not even doing it for the money which is absolutely fantastic.

My first month brought home $520.00 and this was for working maybe 2-3 sat of that month for about 2-4 hours each Saturday that is maybe 2 paychecks put together for a long 40 hour work
week right??
It isn't for everyone but I thought maybe I would run it by you.
I am a Passion Part Consultant and I have 2 great kids who I can be home with and I love it.
If you would like to know more let me know.

Hope to hear from you

Hi -

I have responded to a couple requests from other moms who are looking for a successful at-home business and would like to give you more information about my new endeavor - MonaVie. There will be two really GREAT informational meetings in the next couple of days and I really think that if this has even remotely sparked an interest in you, you definitely should attend one or both. Get a friend or spouse to go with you.

This drink has really taken the US by storm!!! Since I signed up in June there have been 300,000 additional distributors to sign up around the world. Right now there are less than 700,000 so this would be the time to get in and make your money and improve your health! This company is growing faster than Microsoft did and is expected to be a multi-billion dollar company within the next year!! You could be a part of it if you act now. The meetings will be held Wednesday Nov. 7th, and Tuesday Nov. 8th.

The cost for the Wednesday meeting is $5 per person..... however, if you attend and sign up under me as a distributor or retail customer, I will refund your money and even double it!!! Just for coming out to listen to this remarkable man, Brig Hart, talk about MonaVie and his passion for the drink and the company. He is a highly charged speaker and this should be fun. This meeting is located by the airport at the Mariott (1101 N. 44th Street, Phoenix, AZ), and starts at 7pm (doors open at 6, get there early if you want a seat).

Thursday's meeting is free to guests so when you sign in use my name (A. Burleson #419630) if asked for your distributor contact. This meeting has Grayson Marshall as the speaker and he is a perfectionist at informing you about all the ways to make money with this product. If you attend the meeting with Brig Hart, also try to attend this one as the styles are different and this one will answer questions you might have from the first one. This meeting is located in Chandler at Foothills Golf Club (2201 East Clubhouse Drive Phoenix, AZ 85048). It starts at 6:30pm (again, doors open at 6, so get there early).

I am asking you to give me a chance to show you how you could have additional income for very little effort, while drinking the juice yourself and improving your health at the same time. This is not spam. I am just trying to inform you about a viable opportunity for you to find out how you can make enough money to stay home with your kids and do all the things that you want with your life.

If you can attend either of these meetings, this is such a great opportunity and I think that you can benefit from the information that can be learned from these speakers.

A little about me:
I am a SAHM with twins who were born twelve weeks premature, but soldiered on and are now 14 months and doing great. I am self-employed thanks to MonaVie, and love being home with my babies to see all of their milestones with my own eyes, instead of being told about them from the babysitter.

Hi I am a sahm who operates a daycare during the day and my husband and I also have a financial business with Primerica where we help families such as yourself restructure their monthly bills and educate famillies on how money works and how to get out of debt faster and without paying as much interest as the creditors want you too. We also educate families on investing in the correct vehicle to produce the max profits and returns.

My husband and I dedcided to keep both of our vehicles when I came home from work even though it was a struggle in the begining it has been the best for us because it's given me the luxury and convience to come and go as I please with our children and take care of the house even if my husband is away from the home on business. We would love to sit down and talk with you and your husband and show you what it is that we do for families and maybe it might be a solution to your problems. You can email me if you are interested. I wish you and your family well in whatever decision you make and if you choose to wath children in your home and have any questions don't hestitate to ask.

As far as cutting expenses go, the biggest thing I would recommend is tracking your expenses for a couple months (about 3--it takes effort, but is well worth it) and see how much you spend, especially on unnecessary items like extra clothes, going out to eat, etc, and even frivolous things at the grocery store (making a list and sticking to it really helps there). Anyways, you'll most likely be surprised at how quickly those things add up. Things that are not very expensive people tend to buy here and there without a second thought, but it can add up and make a difference.

After tracking your expenses you can see what you're spending and where, so you can cut back where you're being the most spendy and most undisciplined. Then make a budget (I prefer to call it a "Spending Plan") and keep it with you and follow it, or some people prefer to get cash out at the beginning of the month and put it in an accordian-style coupon holder or different envelopes for the different categories, and once the money is gone for that category (like date money or groceries), it's gone and you can't spend more. It helps make you be disciplined. When we hold ourselves accountable like that, we think really long and hard before we buy that candy or fastfood or one more pair of shoes at the beginning of the month because we want it to stretch to last the whole month. I've heard www.daveramsey.com has some great ideas on finances and my friends who follow his steps to a "Money Makeover" can't say enough good about the whole approach.

It can be done! My husband and I were well within the poverty level of income when we were both in college full-time and working when we had time, but we managed to pay our bills without going into debt or needing welfare of any sort and without living paycheck to paycheck. We just did without and were painfully disciplined, but I would never give up what we learned from the experience. It's not about how much you make, but how you manage it. I wish you the best of luck, and know it becomes more difficult once children are in the picture. But they won't remember (especially at this age) what they didn't have, but that they had you! I loved having my mother stay home with us when we were growing up, even though we lived in a trailer with no air conditioning in Arizona. I honestly don't remember it being hot. But she certainly remembers that sacrifice, so you've got to do what is best for your whole family and what you can deal with.

Hi Alejandra,

I'm also a SAHM. I have 4 children whom I home school. I'm an Arbonne consultant and really enjoy what I do. I initially joined Arbonne to make a few extra hundred a month to help relieve some of the stress my husband was feeling due to our financial situation. It has a low start up cost of $29, but that's cheap for starting your own business. Arbonne's products are botanically based. They are formulated without mineral oil, petrolatum, lanolin, etc. which do not allow your skin to breathe. They're formulated without animal products or by-products, they're hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and pediatrician tested. We have something for everyone... men, women, children, and babies... skin care, hair care, supplements, weight loss system, aromatherapy, cosmetics... Please let me know if you have any questions. I'd be more than happy to come along side of you and help you get your business started. Our team is one you'd be proud to be a part of... it is one of the fastest growing teams and our upline NVPs are awesome when it comes to coming along side of us as well.
