Well I asked one question on here, and everyone said get a lawyer. Which leads me to question two....Know any good lawyers that are not too pricy? South metro is preferred.

I did meet with a lawyer from Tuttle and Bergussen on Friday. I'm very pleased with the depth of the intial meeting and have decided to retain them. Thank you all for going out of your way to make recommendations. It feels so much better to know that other women have had good experiences with their lawyers. Much better than picking a name out of a phone book and crossing your fingers.

Hello - I've used Lisa Amundson in Eagan. I think her deposit was $1500. I'd use her again if any other issues arise with my ex and our daughter.

Chrysalis - a women's advocacy group, has $20 legal clinics several nights a week. There you can meet with a lawyer who will make a recommendation for lawyers who work specifically with women and on a lower fee scale. It is part of their commitment to women and to Chrysalis.

If the two of you can talk, I strongly recommend mediation. It is cheaper, quicker, and much less about one person "winning". If the two of you can't talk, lawyers are necessary. Even with mediation, a lawyer will need to file the final divorce papers.
