So What Happened?

I did take her to the ER since the nurse said that would probably be the best idea and everything came back normal. I have been trying to think about what has changed and I only came up with one thing that really didn't bother her at all. I have been a bit busy doing so much getting ready for Thanksgiving the last few days so I will just try to do things when she is sleeping and see if that helps. Thanks for all the great answers I really appreciate it.

Do you think she could have a urinary tract infection? I know when I had one, I would be fine one minute and then need to go to the bathroom the next and it was very hard to hold so I literally had to run to the rest room or risk going on myself. My daughter had this problem a few years ago at the age of 8 too. Other symptoms included pain when peeing and blood in the urine. If she has these symptoms, you will need to take her to the doctor and get antibiotics to clear it up.

I don't know if this is any help but someone had told me that when this happens it is because something has changed in her surroundings and it could be upsetting her.
Take a step back and try to see what might have changed. I know when this happened with my daughter and I tried to figure out what was going on, I realized that I had been super stressed out and probably was taking it out on her in ways I didn't realize. Sure enough I put aside all my feelings and starting being more patient and giving her more attention than usual, no more accidents.
I hope this helps! Just a suggestion!

my son (4 yr) will have an accident at night very rarely -- but I know they can happen whenever he's experiencing at change in his normal schedule or routine....or something big has happened.
When preschool started back up this fall....he had a bed-wetting accident every night of his first week of school. But after that schedule become a normal routine....no accidents in the bed during the 2nd week and on.
So if there has been a change in her routine....or a big change in the family....you can attribute that to the accidents. It will eventually stop if that's the case.

Really, this is soooo normal. It will happen occasionally, and seems to go in spurts, like if they have an accident, they'll then have multiple accidents for a while, almost as if they're trying it out, seeing what happens. Strange, but true. Just take care of the accident, maybe go back to potty training methods like m&ms or making sure you take them regularly, and then they'll move on, hopefully not to do this again, but if they do, you just do the same thing. Then, you'll suddenly realize that it's been six months, a year, whatever since they've had an accident.

Of course, the UTI is a possiblity, but groups of accidents so soon after being potty trained is very normal, that I wouldn't immediately assume that. Potty training is a very long process.

What is she doing prior to the accidents? Is she playing and doesn't want to take time out to go until it is too late? Is there anything else wrong with her that could signal a bladder infection? If it is that she is playing and waits too long, you may have to remind her, and if that doesn't work, use your usual methods of discipline to help her remember. Otherwise, she may need to visit the doctor to rule out any medical issues. You might try insisting that she try to go after every meal, before and after her nap, before you leave the house, etc. Also, we learned that unless we wanted a lot of frustration, to make a potty stop just about everywhere in town that there is a restroom to use such as stores, restaurants, etc. This way, if your child does have to wait awhile for the restroom at any point during the day, it will usually be alright. Don't forget, too, that caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and sodas act as diruretics and would make a person have to go more often, with more urgency.

I have a daughter who will turn three this next week. She was potty trained for 4 to 5 months and then recently began having accidents again. We looked to see what had happened prior to the regression but couldn't pinpoint anything. Some times something bothers a kid even if they don't verbalize that it bothered them. Something may have changed and you precious one isn't able to verbalize what it is bothering her. Be patient with her and really praise the times she successfully uses the potty. Stickers work well with mine. My little one is doing fine for me. We'll see how she does at school this next week. Best of luck!

I have a 2 1/2 yr old and is potty trained she would have accidents from time to time as well, I was told it was normal, it is the adjustment of not having on a pull up vs the panty, it will get better, when Lauren was starting out, we would put on a pull up and I would ask if she needed to potty and then I allowed her to wear a panty and she began to tell me or go on her own to the potty.
