Does anyone know of any sort of exercise class OTHER THAN yoga that's specifically geared towards postpartum moms in Seattle? I love yoga and all, but I'm looking for something a little more energetic/weight loss oriented, if ya know what I mean.

What can I do next?

I did an exercise class at the YMCA in the University District after my daughter was born. It was on Saturday mornings (about a year and a half ago) and was for pregnant and post-partum moms. I brought my daughter with me, which was great. At the time, it was a really small class, so the instructor was able to tailor it to the individuals, so it was as energetic as you wanted it to be. It focused on rebuilding core strength, so lots of pilates and also some cardio.

Hi C.,
Just wondering if you ever found an exercise program that you like.
I teach pole dancing fitness in Fremont. It is GREAT for moms. I have many newer moms in my classes.
It gets you back in touch with your sensual side and is very private. Just the girls!
There is no nudity in these classes.
Check out my site...not quite finished but you can email me with any questions.http://divinemovementdance.com/

There is a great program called Stroller Strides where you get to take your child with you in the stroller. It focuses on working muscles with resistance bands and using the environment. In between band exercises, we walk/jog. Check out www.strollerstrides.com for more info and times/locations.

I started dancing ballet again after being off for four years. It feels great to get moving again. I also found Pilates machine sessions very invigorating and helped shed some of the pregnancy weight. It helped lengthen and tone your muscles and increase flexibility.
