I recently started a business and am looking for ways to promote it. Does anyone know of places in Denton and surrounding areas that have bulletin boards where I could post flyers? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Starbucks have them near the restrooms. See if you can find people who are in a complimentary business and cross promote with them.

Check the student centers on the campuses around you. Surely they have a spot.

And check with oil change places. I know that sounds odd, but I have gotten a few orders from people who got my card at a place locally. Apparently my hubby posted my business card there.

If you are on facebook promote there. I get a ton of business through facebook. I am not obnoxious about it, I simply post my work and tag friends who made the order (I do cakes). It's a reminder for people who know and tagging often gets me business from their friends who see my work.

And don't forget craigslist. I only did it in the beginning. You have to be a little wary of people who contact you, but it did get me some business when I first started out.

And I think Home Depot has a place for posting. Mostly handy men and painters advertise there, but it can't hurt if you just want to get the word out.

All Starbucks have them, but won't let you post a flier if you're trying to sell something. You'd have to get permission to make sure they don't pull it down.

What kind of business is it? You want to try and target your potential customers.
I have a diaper cake business on etsy, so I have placed flyers and business cards where mothers and babies go: kids' consignments shops, the community center, library, kindergym, places like that. Our local drugstore also has a big board, as does the grocery store, and all kinds of people advertise there.
Good luck!

The free speech board at TWU is on the outside/west side of the Union. You can post there without special approval. Anywhere else on campus you have to get your flier stamped in the Union on the first floor at the CSD office. You can ask shop owners on the square, and lots of businesses on the square are free game-like Recycled, and Jupiter House, where you just go in a post.

Join the Denton Chamber of Commerce, go to their mixers-you will start to build business contacts from there, and you can post your business on their website. Facebook is a great place to expand your business, and of course, an etsy account is another good way to get your product out there and to network. I have found that most people do not take the time to read physical bulletin boards, most of them are extremely cluttered and unorganized which makes it very difficult to get your flyer noticed. Good luck!

I'm not in Denton, but I can tell you the type of places I've seen them. Lots of franchises have community boards. I've seen them in children's consignment stores, UPS stores, etc. Local colleges are a great resource. They usually have tons of boards. You have a wealth of colleges near you. UNT, TWU, and NCTC...just to name a few. I would start with colleges. Then, make some calls to smaller local places, asking if the have community boards. The bigger stores don't usually allow it.
