Am I the only one affirmed in my decision to reject the current parenting trend to teach your children to use the real anatomically correct words for their p****** p****? LOL the "vagina" stories are cracking me up! No pun intended.
Its not like I"m going to wait until they are 12 to learn the real names (like I was). I have taught them the real names, but we use cutesy names for everyday language, as the default word.

I've taught my son anatomically correct terms ever since he was learning his body parts. It didn't stop the "ball sack" remarks, nor the "titty" commentaries! Once they're OUT of the house & in school--it doesn't matter--they're going to hear it ALL--good and bad!
On a similar note--knowing the actual manes/terms made "the talk" a LOT smoother!

We call them privates! Lol. My DD saw her daddy going potty one day and asked him why he has a "line bo-bo". Lmbo!!
No, my kids don't commonly use the real anotomical words for their p****** p****. I also do a mental eye-roll at that. My kids KNOW the real names and would use them if a situation warranted it, and when we're having discussions about pains, rashes, etc., we do use the correct words. However, in day-to-day conversation if it ever comes up, my kids say tee-tee for girl parts and weiner for boy parts. :)
HAH!!! Heck no. It's a tee tee (I have a boy) and he doesn't even know what a girls is called and doesnt need to till he asks. He just says, about me, 'mommy doesn't have a weiner' lol
I tell him bc mommy's a girl. Oh but you can bet your bottom he knows what boobs are and is not shy in saying so. The kid loves boobs. And he's 3.5.
In the children's place (Children's clothing store, idk if you guys have one there) He Saw a woman shopping. He said, "Mommy, she has big boobies like you do!" VERY LOUDLY.
Oh well, at least he didn't tell a woman with smaller breasts that hers were tiny. THEN I would have been mortified.
I didn't know it was a trend. My mom always used the anatomically correct words and so do we. In public they use privates...which I don't really know why. To me it is what it is! No need to hide it that they know what to properly call it.
A lady I know still calls hers a "cookie"...seriously! That drives me nuts. But to each their own.
She's only 5. "Lady bits" work just fine. When she was younger she would call my boobs, boops. It stuck. She knows boys have different "parts" but has never asked how they are different.
Though recently everything in the general area for her's been her "booty" so, eh.
When my daughter was little, she called her breasts "beebs", she said they weren't big enough to be boobs...I died laughing.
i taught my daughter the real word, but refer to it as her privates in daily conversation. I shared one of those stories=) In school she says privates but at home she finds it funny to say the real word and make people blush
you are not alone, my kids know that its a private. But they refer to the whole general region as their bitts, but if you ask them specifically where is their butt, they know, and where is their private, they know. I think id rather them say, my panties are in my butt vs. my panties are in my vagina..
I've taught anatomy, I've also taught modesty.
They know the real words. They also understand not to use "bathroom words" in public. She would say, "I washed my privates. Not I washed my Vagina" She is well aware that it is a vagina. She knows better than to use it unless I ask her a specific question. She needs to know, so if she says something hurts, I can figure out exactly where the problem is. Just saying my privates hurt, isn't telling me much.
Both of them still love to get a giggle, so they are apt to rattle off the word booty or butt just to get a rise out of me or make other kids laugh.
We do just use anatomically correct lingo for the most part in our house. I have a boy and a girl so they are both aware of the differences and the names. I will say though, when my daughter started elementary school, we taught her about stranger danger. We also covered appropriate and i************ t****. I explained to her what was considered to be her p****** p**** and told her no one should touch her in those areas other than herself. Somehow for her that translated into called her vagina her privacy. So, for the last 2 years that is how she refers to it. I think kids will come up with their own lingo, which I'm fine with as long as it's not vulgar and as long as they can speak correctly to a doctor. :)
My girls call theirs a wee wee when they are little. Or no no place, or privates, or down there. When they are teens the words are colorful, as in va jay jay.... but still never vagina. I dont think it matters. No harm. They were never teased in school. They can tell you what its really called if need be.
What is the difference in calling a girl named Catherine "Katie"?
