Today my 3 year old was playing on the floor with cars and he just fell, from a kneeling position. He was lying on the floor unmoving with his eyes wide open. I paniced and went over and picked him up and he was limp like a rag doll eyes still wide open kinda like lights are on and no one is home. Then he just came out of it like nothing happened and was normal. This all happened in probab ly 30 seconds or less. Seizures run in my family. He did have an EEG about 4 months ago for breath holding spells and it came back normal. Could something have changed? Is it possible he was fine back then and now not? This was the first time this has ever happened. He is a breath holder but this was definatly NOT a breath holding spell. Has anyone had experience with this? I am a little upset.
If they did an EEG that was not specifically checking for epilepsy, then the doctor may not have read it as such.
An EEG for epilepsy will include flashing lights into the eyes, hyperventilating, and sleeping, as these are all triggers for epilepsy. My son has a kind of epilepsy called benign rolandic epilepsy, and I have done so much research on the damn subject it hurts. epilepsy.com is a great resource.

My son suffers from seizures. He only has them about 1 1/2 yrs, Thank Goodness.
I would recommend you always take them to the hospital for the first seizure. They would need to run tests to rule out any causes, low blood sugar, brain tumor, heart problem, etc.
My son sees a neurologists at CHOP and we were told to call after every seizure. We then schedule an appointment for a new EEG incase anything has changed.

My seizures were of a different nature and my eldest had febrile seizures when she was little. My daughter's stopped as soon as we began chiropractic care for her. I know not all seizures can be remedied this quickly HOWEVER the spine is the key to the neurological system and if there is a "kink" and it is removed, it is possible that the symptom may disappear as well. I prefer upper cervical chiropractic and you can find one with that specialty at www.upcspine.com. My chiropractor is the largest pediatric chiropractic clinic in the southeast and has very good results with children with seizures. If you are not under the care of a principled chiropractor, my advise is to get there quickly. Interview them like any doctor. If they don't understand the immune system and the neurological repercusions to subluxations, then keep looking. There is nothing better for you than good chiropractic care!
