Okay...so I have my own personalized gift business and absolutely know this is what I'm supposed to be doing; however, I need some direction on how to grow the business. This business kinda happened overnight. I attended a birthday party and baby shower in one weekend...(made the personalized gifts myself) and started getting orders. January is going a little slower - not sure because of Christmas being last month... but want your advice on getting a jumpstart (I do have a website).

What can I do next?

Hi B., Congratulations on your business. It is not always an easy thing to do. I also have my own business and I have finally found a site that will help you as well with growth in your business. It is www.danijohnson.com. for personal growth an dbusiness growth. It is phenominal. I went to see her live in ATL and she is amazing. I am also going to LA to see her in Feb. It is the most rewarding experience.

I hope you will let her help you as well.

Hi, B. ! What is your website? And I have seen home based businesses at consignment sales before , like SWITCH-A-ROOS, or have some of your merchandise or advertise at local consignment shops. You could also put an ad in UPSTATE PARENTS magazine. Good luck & I hope I helped some.

If you are in Sales and self- employed, you cannot live without LEADS. My husband and I have been self employed in sales for 20 years. We use three types of leads, not to mention all the repeat customers and their referrals to us. 1. Internet leads. 2. Mail leads. 3. Telemarketed leads.
If you can work an average of 15 to 20 leads per week. you will be doing great and at least once a year, make contact in some way with your prior customers.

You could ask customers to give you referrals of friends and family they think may be interested in what you offer. Then you could send a personalized letter to them mentioning the person who referred them. As an incentive, you could offer discounts to customers based on the referrals they give you.

Do you hand out flyers and business cards? I believe that can help as well.
