Period After Baby

I have twins who are 14 weeks old. I stopped nursing at 3 weeks due to a lack of milk. I was curious-does anyone know how long it takes to get your period you are done nursing? I still haven't had mine-spotted once or twice but nothing else. I had my tubes tied at the time that the twins were born, but this not getting my period is making me nervous anyway.

What can I do next?

Even while breastfeeding I still got my period already when the baby was this old. I am certain it depends on the person.

Best wishes.

Hey A. - I have been exactly where you are. I had my tubes tied right after giving birth to my twins. I only breastfed for 3 months and I did not have a period for almost 8 months (I did have very irregular periods before the pregnancy though). There were a couple of times I swore I was pregnant again. The Dr. finally had to give me progesterin(sp?) pills to "kick start" my period. I would do as everyone else has said and take a pregnancy test just to put your mind at ease.

I had my baby in March and breast fed for two months but have only gotten one period that was lighter than I was accustomed to. I have had some spotting but my Doctor told me it was normal for it to take some time to get things back to a regular cycle. I would ask your Dr. since you have also had your tubes tied.

It's different for every one. I got mine back at 6-weeks - both when I wasn't breastfeeding and even when I was breastfeeding exclusively. Take a pregnancy test to ease your mind.

Hi, A.. I had my period three months after I had my twins and it was VERY heavy for about four months during each period.

Congrats on the twins! They're soooo much fun.

Mine came when she was four months old and it has been very heavy (way more so than it used to be) so far. Joy to me! :) And I am nursing her as well, so I think that part is neither here nor there.

I can see why, after twins. Take a pregnancy test to be sure, but your body has probably just had enough stress of carrying two babies for 9 months, it may take a while to get your period again.

everyone is different as to when their periods return, but mine came about 2 months after weaning my last baby. then it came every 2 months for a while.
