Overstimulated.......husbands On Christmas Morning?

One of many things I love about Troy is he is a big child when he is around the kids. Well this year I got a helicopter for my daughter since she plays with Troy's all the time. So it arrived two days ago and he keeps pulling it out of the closet with that hang dog look of "but it is nicer than mine". :( I felt so bad it is now a gift to Genna and Troy. Don't worry for the child she is getting wayyyyy too much anyway.

So I got him a writing tablet. If you are not familiar a writing tablet is a tablet that attaches to your computer to do more precision photo editing and even painting.

I now fear he will be the overstimulated child come Christmas morning wanting to play with all his toys at once. :p

Is anyone else married to a big child that they fear might become overstimulated Christmas morning?

Maybe I should make decaff.....

What can I do next?

I got my husband an xbox live gold membership and a game he's wanted for months; his BFF is already 1/2 way through the game. Do you think I'm EVER going to see my husband again?! No, I am an xbox widow ;)

ETA: And don't bother with decaff, make mimosas ;)

My guy cries (course, we are generally already on the second bottle of champagne by the time the teenagers get up). Either I'm THAT good, or he's THAT easy. The kids (who are not his kids) still make him cards every year, he will lose control.

I DO have one Emo gift for him every year. This year I got him a St. Francis of Assisi Medal on a chain, since his father (Whose name was Francisco) passed away this past summer.

I am thinking I might wrap it IN A BOX OF TISSUE.

It's just a beautiful thing, Christmas morning, isn't it?

:)

I love your story! How fun that your big kid will just never grow up...I have one of those too! :) We got our son an xbox and kinect, so I bought my husband a controller to go w/ it, because you KNOW they'll play the games together! My husband and son BOTH got the helicopters last year! :) On the flip side, my hubs LOVES to spoil us all, so he is just as excited to see everyone opening their gifts...little does he know, I went shopping too...30% off Kohls to get something he has wanted for a long time, is gonna make him happy! :)

Have fun and I say let them be overstimulated! Life is rough enough and we are stressed on a regular basis, paying bills and being adults! Enjoy!

How fun for you all!

Wacom is great! My daughter got an Intuos by Wacom (the LARGE one) when she was 11 (she is 17 now). She has created some fantastic works of art with it that are part of her portfolio for college now. When we got it it was pretty spendy...and we have replaced the pen several times now (Amazon)!

Great products and hers has stood the test of time and technology changes and will go off to college with her! I changed my profile pic to one of hers, in case anyone wanted too see!

Your talking about one like a Wacom tablet right? I bought my daughter the $350 one a few years ago. She is an awesome artist.. she loves loves loves nothing better than to draw on her computer with it.

Sadly my husband is able to just feel a box, sometimes just look at it, and know what's inside so he doesn't get all worked up. I blame it on all the years working in retail. Plus if it's in a box that means it's not a new motorcycle so he doesn't get excited. hahaha

Now my dad...he played it cool until we got our presents opened and then he'd "show" us how it worked. That is until 2 hours later we would ask if he was done showing us and if we could play with our new toys! :-)

Mine is a big kid, too. :) We have two sons, and he LOVES playing with them on Christmas morning, and every day for that matter. Even when the kids aren't around, he's a kid at heart, and he'll be 49 in just a few weeks! I love him!

We got our oldest son the Wacom tablet you mentioned also. He's an artist, and he will be so excited! :)

Mine definitely can be when he gets something he really wants. He's the total kid who is absorbed by his new toy to the detriment of anything and everyone around him.

This was fun to read, J.! Can't say my husband is like this now (our kids are not young anymore), but it does bring back memories!

I got a wacom bamboo for my daughter. She likes it...or she did. Now my husband bought a tablet computer with precision touch screen drawing right on the screen. She uses his art programs in there all the time now. He is an artist. So he researched for a long time and decided that he wanted something better than an Ipad.

I really want Christmas to be OVER. We are having ours a week late for logistics reasons.
