OT: Place for Dinner

My husband and I have a date night planned for this week but need somewhere to go out for dinner. I guess we are looking for a nicer place that isn't crazy expensive (like not $50 a plate) and wouldn't mind some tasty meat... We live in Bloomington but would go anywhere in the twin cities that sounds yummy. Anywhere you have gone that you would recommend? Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

Erte in NE Mpls is a cozy elegant place with nice meat. :) It's on University just north of Broadway....right by the Ritz Theater and the Modern Cafe.

I also second Bar La Grassa, super yummy--good meat and Italian. Next time I go I want to go with a big group--they do lots of sharing plates (oh, and save room for dessert!!)

I agree that Open Table is a great website for finding restaurants to try. A couple of our favorites Rudolf's BBQ (lots of good meat...) and Sanctuary (very delicious, very cozy).

Have you tried Broder's (Italian)? The food is wonderful and a great value. It's near 50th and Penn.
My other favorites are Erte in NE Minneapolis (steakhouse) and The Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown (super eclectic, fun people watching and live music).

Have fun!

CRAVE is great in St. Louis Park... you could eat for less than $50 each for sure.

My husband and I love McCormick & Schmicks in Edina for date night. They're a seafood place, but they have great meat as well. Check out the menu online http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com.

I highly recommend Broders as well. It's inexpensive & high quality Italian. Portion sizes are on the smaller end. It does get crazy busy & doesn't take reservations, so I would call at 4pm to put your name on the waitlist to minimize your wait time.

Another place I love is Cafe Lurcat near Loring Park. They have a deconstructed fried rice dish that I ate while I was pregnant & I still dream of that dish! Blackbird Cafe is also great & inexpensive. I love their spicy udon noodles & duck eggrolls while my husband gets the walleye po'boy.

Next on our list to try is Bar La Grassa. We've heard great reviews about this place & have been told it blows Broders out of the water.

Have fun!

Poor Richard's at Normandale and 84th. It used to be Major's so it's a bit sports bar-ish but good food.

Also, I really like The Purple Sandpiper on Lyndale and 84th. Yummy! More date like atmosphere.
