Hi Mamas,

I am looking for an OB who delivers at Abbott NW in Minneapolis. I had a fairly complicated pregnancy and a placental abruption with my son about 2.5 years ago. I delivered wtih the high risk perinatal group: MPP at United hospital the first time. While I loved all of the MDs at Minnesota Perintal and they did a great job with the birth, I had a terrible experience at United (mostly with the nursing staff) and will never go back to that hospital. I am hoping this pregnancy will be much easier and that I won't need the services of MPP (even though they were great!). I've heard good things about Diamond Health Center, Women's Health Consultants as well as John Haugen in Edina. Does anyone have any experience with these or other OB groups who deliver at Abbott?

Thanks much!
J.

I see one of the OB/GYN's with John Haugen in Edina and Downtown. She has delivered two of my kids and will do my third in October. I have had nothing but good experiences with the Dr.'s in the group and I know they deliver at Abbott (even though I didn't, I know they will go there.) I have heard nothing but good things about delivering at Abbott as well from friends that have had babies there!

I think Women's Health Consultants are the best! I can only say good things about the staff there.

I saw Dr. Chow at Diamond Health center in Edina. He is almost a legend with women in the area. I had complications at 36 weeks that were only identified because of his thoroughness and experience. I highly recommend him. Good luck.

I second Minnesota Perinatal Physicans - it's a great group of doctors that specialize in high risk and mutliple pregancies. I found them when I ended up in the ER at Abbott for preterm contractions. I liked Abbott alot too, but didn't have anything to compare it too. Just know that with any hospital/medical experiences, you may find doctors and nurses you like and others you loathe. If the later, ask for someone else or hope for a quick shift change. Good luck with your delivery!

I delivered at ANW and the nurses were great Great GREAT! My OB was from Associates in Women's Health (Edina office) and I believe they have a couple of OBs that specialize in high risk pregnancies. Overall I was happy with both my prenatal care and the delivery. Good luck and congrats.

I felt that I was in very good hands with Womens Health Consultants. I had a high risk pregnancy and loved everyone in the group. The doctor who delivered my son has since left the group but I would have been comfortable with any of the OBs....I highly recommend them. Also, you can do most prenatal visits at their office adjacent to ANW and avoid the downtown ramp parking costs. The nurses at Abbott were stellar by the way! Good luck.

I am sorry you had a tough pregnancy and your hospital stay was not pleasant. I delivered my last 2 babies at Abbott, through Minnesota Perinatal Physicians. It was a wonderful experience both times and I credit them for bringing my babies safely into the world. I had left my last OB (I felt the care I got was not good and lead to the loss of an earlier pregnancy) and knew I wanted to deliver with MPP at Abbott. I looked for on OB that would refer me and found the John Haugen group in Edina. From the beginning, they were wonderful (with exception of one midwife, who I never saw again, or never would). They knew I was going to them just to get the referral. After the pregnancies, I liked them so much I kept them as my OB/GYN and still go there. The doc I saw and loved the most retired about a year ago. I have seen several docs there and have been nothing but happy with all of them. The desk and phone staff have been amazing, too. So, I would say I highly recommend them and they will send you to MPP, if they feel it is necessary. Good luck with your pregnancy, I hope it is uneventful!

I went to Women's Health Consultants for the delivery of both of my children (in the last 18 months!!!) and have seen every doctor there. I love them!!! There were doctors I felt a better connection with then others so I highly recommend seeing all of them before picking one to see. I personally loved Dr. McKeand (my second delivery had the potential to get a little tricky and she was great), Dr. Mainguy and Dr. Levitan. Almost all of my friends have used them as well and have nothing but great things to say about the practice.

Good luck and congratulations!

One more thing...it is a female practice if that makes a difference. I personally felt more comfortable with a woman OB/GYN and was more relaxed knowing that no matter who was on call I would have a woman deliver my child.

I used John Haugen Associates (downtown office) and delivered at Abbott. I had Dr. Peterson as my primary OB but ended up having my baby on Thanksgiving Day so I had Dr. Flom deliver my son. I loved both of the doctors. I didn't have many complications, but both of them are very experienced with all kinds of pregnancies. After my son was born, he ended up getting transferred to Children's because he was spitting up bright green fluid. It was fantastic to be able to be transferred over there so easily, that I would definitely go back to Abbott again.
