Hi Moms,

I delivered my first two daughters at prentice with the midwives group and had a fantastic experience! I now live in Wilmette and am 9 weeks pregnant with my third. I am seeing a midwife at Evanston Hospital, but am not altogether thrilled. This 3rd pregancy is much different than my last two as I 've had extreme nausea, sleep issues, etc. I think I definitely require a bit more hand holding this time and need someone who can show me a little compassion without making me feel as though I'm bothering them. I'm particularly interested in midwives but am open to compassionate OB's as well!
thanks!

What can I do next?

My midwife was Kathy Puls, and she is opposite Evanston Northshore. It's probably relative person to person as to whether you feel like you're bothering your provider, and how sensitive you feel about it. There were times I felt that way, but also times I didn't, and I had to allow for myself projecting :). But that was me, and I do sometimes project!

As per Rose's post, I have heard good things about Debi Lesnick too!

I am having my third at Evanston Hospital too and NorthShore Associates in OBGYN is delivering me too. I've dealt with the following midwives there: Debi Lesnick, Mara Evans, and Gaye Koconis. I haven't had any problems and if I bring up issues, they've always thoroughly discussed them with me. Additionally, when I had some questions regarding insurance and recommended procedures, they called me back promptly and encouraged me any way I chose to proceed. They do have OB's in the practice too, if you decide not to go the midwife route, although I've not dealt with them at all, as I've not had any complications. They also have an office in Glenview, which I often go to since it's less busy and my appts are rarely delayed. Evanston number is: ###-###-#### 2500 Ridge, suite 301, Evanston. Glenview office is: ###-###-#### at 2550 Compass Rd., unit J, Glenview. On a side note, I also had a lot of nausea at the beginning and found them very supportive with lots of suggestions. Thankfully that abated by 16 weeks, but their suggestions did help some. Good luck!

Please please please get in touch with Debi Lesnick at North Shore Associates: ###-###-####
They are on Ridge across from Evanston Hospital. Went through two pregnancies with her and continue to see her for regular checkups. I'm only sorry those are only once a year so I could see her more. She is so calming and will take as much time as you need at each appointment. I have been extremely satisfied.

I've heard fabulous things about both Debi and Kathy's practices. I delivered with Dr. Pearlman's practice in Old Orchard (although never with Dr. Pearlman, who is my OB!) I like them a lot, and have liked all of the partners that I have seen. I can specifically recommend Dr. Pearlman, Dr. Marx (who delivered my first), and Dr. Krause (who delivered my second.)

Hope this helps! Good luck and feel better!
